Here Comes The Rain!Truly outstanding debut album from Black Stone Cherry, the most exciting band in rock at the moment. I've had the privilege of seeing them live a couple of times and they are the real deal! This album is grade a - from start to finish there really isn't a bad song, every one is top class. The energy is relentless and the playing exquisite, the South have a history of producing incredible music and these boys from Kentucky are the latest edition to that impeccable list. 'Rain Wizard' maybe the best album (and set) opener ever... but to pick it out as the highlight would overshadow the other 12 tracks! "Hey hey, My my, Rock 'N' Roll will never die"... It's been a long while since Ol' Neil sang those immortal words, but while bands like BSC (and Airbourne and The Answer, to name but a few) are still producing 'classic' rock of this calibre, he was certainly right. Turn this one as loud as your record player will go and rock on!

The Cherry exploded with this titleI have to agree with most of the reviewers here in that musically this is a 5 star album. The tunes rock in a way that I have been gagging for for years, not since page was plumbing away have I been moved by such a groove. These guys really are awesome. However I only give 4 not 5 stars as the lyrics are dire. This is an album you play 5 times in a row as it is that good, but unfortunately the part that fails miserably is the lyric writing. Predictable etc. Now this wouldn't ordinarily bug me but this band could be bigger than ACDC as they have the southern style with hard rock riffs on tap and a sound dynamic that the Youngs could never achieve... Their sound is unique I just wish a bit more effort went into the lyrics..

Rock has never been more alive......Just want to add my endorsement to this excellent album, hard to describe exactly who they sound like although the influences are definately clear, most likely Zepplin, Sabbath, the rough edge of AC/DC, maybe more recently a touch of Soundgarden.
There are no weak songs on the album, my personal favourites being Crosstown Woman, Rain Wizard, Violator Girl and rollin on.Being a hard rock fan (and not particularly a new metal fan) for the last twenty years its encouraging that proper rock records are still being made. Bands like Black Stone Cherry, Airbourne, and Million Dollar Reload have definately made sure rock has never been more alive.....

Thanks to AmazonBought on the strength of Amazon's recommendation and am blown away. If you like hard heavy riffing, catchy hook lines and great vocals, you'll love this. Stand out track for me is Lonely Train, but most of the tracks stand up on their own. Maybe not the most original album in the world, but brilliant nonetheless. Love it.

Fantasmagorical! This album was bought on a complete whim, having heard nothing about the band at all and only a snippet of Lonely Train I decided to dive in and buy it, keeping my fingers crossed that I would like what I had heard.
I don't think I have listened to anything else since!
The vocals have been described as too clean and clear, too polished by some of my friends but they have all been swept up in the fantastic hit of pure rock n roll that this album is. The southern influences are obvious from the beginning, some tracks heralding back to early Black Label Society stuff which made me love it all the more. The vocals are delivered beautifully, the music engaging and all consuming. Not one track on the album disappoints as so many other albums do.
In fact, I love this album so much I have made friends who don't even like rock music buy it as I won't listen to anything else!! What better endorsement is there?
