Creative Couldn't Care LessBeware of Creative customer care.
I recently contacted them with a problem with my MP3 player.
Basically, although it worked fine and was fully loaded with my whole music and video collection, I couldn't add any further content to it.
Customer care took me through a diagnostic process which ended with a instructions to completely reformat the machine, stripping it of its operating system.
I e-mailed them to say I was nervous of doing this, but they insisted it was necessary and that if it didn't work I'd be invited to send the unit in for repair or replacement.
When I took the fateful step and lost everything they informed me that I was out of warranty and they wanted £60 to repair it (even though they had known my purchase date and had a copy of my Amazon receipt from the beginning).
As this unit can now be bought for about this amount I had no option but to bin it.
Result, no player, 4500 tracks and dozens of films lost forever.
If they had told me the cost of repair before pushing me to reformat I could have made and informed decision.
Do not trust their advice, in fact if I were you I'd buy elsewhere!

good little playerThe player itself is very good, intuitive interface good sound quality. The only downside is using Windows media player to put the music on. I much prefer being able to use it as a USB drive type interface. This has the knock on effect that I cant charge it at work, as it only charges through a USB and it has to install as a device to do this seemingly.
Overall though I like it a lot, just prefer my zen stone for its abilities as a stick drive and the smaller size. Just cant use the interface in the car for that one!

Creative Zen V 2 GbI bought one of these 3 months ago and have had no problems at all since I first got it. Sound quality is very good and I also got the full set of mains adaptors, and those worked fine too. My only criticism is that it should be sold with a mains charger as standard. I just got the Travel Sound docking speakers-excellent sound quality for their size.

Looked good, but incredibly disapointingOk, so like many people, i was looking for an interesting, cheap, oringinal alternative to the ipod nano. At first it looked brillant, BUT ITS CHEAPER FOR A REASON.
When I got it i was very pleased with it, my single gripe at that point being that the headphones didn't stay in my ear too well.
Then I tried to put some music on it of course, and it did not work at all with vista, neither would recognise the other was connected.
Luckily it worked on my dads work pc, but that wasted loads of time and stopped me being to buy individual tracks off the internet (which I had been looking forward to).
So for a month or 2 I was rather pleased with it, until the ominous red ines started permanently appearing on the screen. Less than an hour after that the whole thing froze completely, and wouldn't even respond to me putting a needle in the reboot hole-thing.
Then it went black and wouldn't turn on so now I am getting a refund (hopefully).
In short, if it works then you couldn't ask for more, but considering quite a few people have also had these sorts of problems, its too big a risk so don't get it.

Creative Zen VLooks lovely and as this was my first foray into an MP3 I could not have got one that looked better. The only problem is that the book tells me how to get music into the zen from my CD but not how to erase it when I am sick of it. I have tried all the permutations of the word "erase" ie remove, delete, get rid of, bin. I still cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the music from the Zen into the bin. The Creative website is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I think I may have to put this one down to experience and next time try something else
