masterpiece
filmed in 1961 it was the return to spain to Buñuel. Criticized for others spanish in the exile, it was -is- a pandora's box for the dictator Franco. Hardly criticized by the Vatican -remember that Nazarin (1958) almost won the award of the catholic office in Cannes- Viridiana contains some of the most famous images of Buñuel. Full of spanish customes and way of life in that dark time.
