Essential disc for all listeners
This disc is an absolute bargain. It's one of a series intended as a gentle introduction for new and nervous 'classical' listeners. Full marks to Chandos for mining their back catalogue for this budget set! The contents of this disc are drawn from Chandos's large catalogue of 'Grainger Edition' discs - which means a good mix of performers. though I own one or two Grainger discs, none comes close to being a true 'best of' in comparison. The usual Mock Morris, Handel in the Strand and Shepherd's Hey are here, plus some ravishing songs, such as Early on Morning and Shallow Brown - not at all the twee folk settings you may be expecting. The full Lincolnshire Posy is here too. Performances and sound (and packaging) are superb. This has been played non-stop since I got it yesterday - great fun!
