Swollen Members
It would seem that after the last record 'Heavy' and minus Moka Only again the new slim'd down Swollen Members return to the dark lyrics and less commerical production hip-hop fans expect from them. Thats not to say the album is a backward step it isnt firstly the production is pretty much flawless throughout 'Rob the Viking' is a man at the top of his game on hearing Black Magic its sonic landscape is impressivly varied, from fast clicky breaks on Grime to the piano driven orchestration of Massacre, added to this contributions by long time guest producers Evidence (Dilated Peoples), Kemo and The Alchemist compliment the albums dark themes whilst bringing there own flavours. Alchemist produced 'Weigh' feat Ghostface Killa is a standout track.
There is a sensitive side to Swollen and its evident on the tracks Brothers (an ode to each band member)Go To Sleep and Put Me On (feat. everlast) a song documenting trying to keep a relationship on the road.

Sensitive stuff aside mostly this is a dark sided hip-hop album with plenty of clever word play from now proven MC's Prevail and Madchild , stories of drunken misadventure comic book imagery, film references etc backed with killa beats and impressive production.
