Buy this and your productivity will drop
Once you get to grips with this it is fine, it does (I think) reduce eye strain due to the larger size buttons, BUT THIS VERSION TAKES WEEKS TO LEARN.

It's just different that's all, you will waste valuable time learning it, which as we all know costs money! If you are used to using the key shortcuts and F keys this is good as they all still work. Big problem though is if you have more than 1 machine and it operates on the older versions (guess where this is going) which will open and save a 2003 file but try it the other way round and you are stuck and a lot of your clients may not have upgraded yet so watch out. I do like it now but if had a swear box when I got it I would have spent hundreds in 3 weeks!

As usual with MS it has no real world advantages over the 2003 suite so don't bother unless you have to.

Great Bit of Software
This package is great! I personally really like the look and new feel of the Ribbon layout. This new version is much quicker, sleeker and more innovative to use than 2003!

2007 integrates lots of useful little things, that make up for a big change! These little things like when you set up your email account in outlook, you just have to enter your email address and password, and outlook automtically logged in to my Gmail account and pulled down all my emails.

One thing i will say is that it is a shame that the ribbon layout does not continue through to publisher, but then it might not work out so well in publisher! Also word is set to double line spacing as defult, which is a bit stupid, but then it is easily changed!

So in a summary, i would say this package does not just do everything it is meant to do very well, but also manages to do it with speed and sleekness.

Is it worth the upgrade?
I would say yes, but if you are happy with Office 2003, i would say stick with it. In essence, office 2007 does everything that 2003 does and more, but just that bit better!

Rubbish
STICK WITH OFFICE 2003!

Everyone who says office 2007 is good worth the money are lying it may open Office 2003 documents and spreadsheets and Powerpoint slideshows but changing them and using them with the new layout is going to irrtate you.

It took me half an hour to give up trying to do any work with Word 2007.

I haven't bought this edition of office but have had a try the software the new layout is far too complex and a job that would take 10 minutes with office 2003 will take a least half an hour in office 2007 if using for the first time I don't recall any tool bars as such with made getting bold text a task in it's self.

Mircosft have really messed up office this time there was nothing that needed changing from office 2003 and no addtion were needed if you already have a office program stick with it as office 2007 is the worst new version mirosoft have ever made and will take far to much time to get to grips with.

As above STICK WITH OFFICE 2003 and save your money.
THIS OFFICE EDITION IS CRAP DON'T BUY!

Elegant and efficient software that does its job well
I was bounced into buying Office Small Business 2007 by Microsoft, whose Windows Genuine Advantage spyware discovered that my old and trustworthy copy of Office 2003 was, shall we say, of somewhat irregular provenance. From the Amazon reviews, I fully expected that getting used to the new office suite would be sheer misery. Imagine my surprise, then, when I found Office 2007 to be beautifully designed, fast, intuitive and easy to use. After a couple of hours of practice, I felt quite at home. Some users might object to the new appearance and layout, and those who hardly ever use a mouse but prefer to use keyboard instructions may find things rather challenging at first. But for those like me who are mouse users and who require not much beyond Word and Excel, Office 2007 should more than fit the bill. I was delighted to find, incidentally, that I can open Word 2003 files without any difficulty, and that I can save files in a form compatible with Word 2003. So far so good, in other words, and highly recommended.

Bitterly disappointing. More difficult to use, no advantage
As a business user I don't really have anything good to say about Office 2007. The new interface now requires 3-4 mouse clicks where 2-3 were needed previously. Many of the keyboard shortcuts no longer work or don't work the way they used to (I don't use the mouse very often). It's not possible to customise the menu structure to any extent as Microsoft have imposed the "ribbon" structure with it's fixed content.

Many of the highlight colours just don't stand out e.g. highlighting text is pink on a white background but highlighted buttons are a sort of yellow colour. There are also only 3 colour schemes available, blue, silver or black. None is particularly attractive and none is particularly clear. Differentiating between several windows often not easy because they are all similar colours.

As a heavy office user, I found the new version of office restrictive and un-instinctive, as if Microsoft have told me how i will work and what commands I will have easily available instead of me being able to select my own. Oh, and you can't even customise a macro button image now! Instead you have to use the ones provided which are an anonymous bunch at best.

you are restricted to a single row of custom buttons - the "quick access toolbar" but if you want the traditional icons on the bar (font, size, style) then you can only fit another 10 or so on the bar - which is restricted to a single line only. when visible, the ribbon occupies a massive amount of space (about 30mm of vertical height) thus restricting the amount of text that can be seen. There appears to be no option to relocate the ribbon, it's always along the top. Hiding the ribbon then needs a double click to bring it back.

I am struggling to express how frustrating I find this software. I am currently in the process of requesting a refund from MS and going back to Office 2003. Note that I can't find anything that 2007 does which 2003 didn't already do for me.
