Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review:In a nutshell: The PC and console worlds combine thanks to man’s best friend and a mouse’s greatest enemy. Create, pamper and train your favoured furry companions in the latest The Sims 2 expansion.
The lowdown:
After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it’s really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that’s just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work!
Most exciting moment:
On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times.
Since you ask:
The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it’ll focus on exterior objects and locations. It’s not yet clear whether there’ll be a console version.
The bottom line:
Finally, The Sims is made to work on consoles!-HARRISON DENT

Almost the rounded packThis is an expansion that enhances you experience rather than adding an area to the game play. Like the title says you can buy and sell pets now, or you can adopt them and give away.
The main pets in the game are dogs and cats and the ability to play with the type of each that you get is almost limitless. When you have chosen you favourite pet you can then train them up and send them off to add some extra money to the household. If you want more then you can breed pets creating either thoroughbreeds or your own unique breeds based on cross breeding pets.
If you are not careful you will find yourself overrun with pets, though the positive impact that they have on your income is not to be forgotten. Nor of course the pleasure that they give to your sims or any guests that they invite over.
The area that this pack is lacking is that pets beyond the main two are much more limited and cannot work/be bred etc.
So if you love dogs/cats then this is definitely the one for you. If you choice in pets is a little more exotic than this you might find yourself wishing for something that is not there.

great game but a bit slow!this is my first (and only at the moment) sims 2 expansion pack. and i must say, it really does make sims 2 so much better!
I have noticed that since i got this my sims have been dieing so much more often, but im not sure if it is because of this expansion pack or not. Though it did start happening after i installed the pack. Which is rather annoying, since i like to keep my sims alive.
On my XP computer however, this did lag quite a bit. On one community lot it took around 10 minutes to actually load!
But i give the actual game 5 stars because it is a GREAT expansion to the sims 2 game!! I recommend it!
