Amazon.co.uk Review
The long-awaited third record in the Bat Out of Hell trilogy, The Monster Is Loose, wears bombast, pretension and pyrotechnics proudly on its album sleeve and across the bulging disc's 15 tracks. More a pop orchestral mishmash than a well-defined rock opus, Bat III is dark, seemingly hopeless at times, and über dramatic. Oddly enough, that's also its saving grace. Meat Loaf and company create a great escape into the realm of grand theatricality, with a bunch of radio-friendly rock tunes that sound 20 years old and several lyrically memorable AOR ballads to sustain it all the way to Broadway. With collaborator (and occasional defendant in Meat Loaf lawsuits) Jim Steinman, plus producers Desmond Child and Todd Rundgren, the Meat man consistently has the big sound booming and his despair and his rage on to the point that listeners may feel his pain a little too often. Bat III ain't for sissies. Balanced by the powerful female voices of Marion Raven, Patti Russo, and Jennifer Hudson; along with guest musicians and songwriting help from Steve Vai, Marilyn Manson's John 5, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, Queen's Brian May, and others; Meat Loaf's Monster has roared the unlikely rock star back to life. --Martin Keller

The 3rd Bat is on the loose - you have been warned!!
If I were made to listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be this. As I write this review now I am listening to "The monster is loose" which, as opening songs go, is just amazing. MeatLoaf has done it again with 'Bat 3'. He has poured his heart, soul and emotions into this album and the power of the songs reflects this. He's an incredibly passionate singer and his songs have lots of emotion weaved into them and this gives them a unique power and edge unlike anything else. 'Bat 1' was the album that started it all, 'Bat 2' took the world by storm and now...'Bat 3' has shown us that he's not ready to back down just yet!

'Bat 3' is rocked up and edgier than the previous 2 albums but it is still unbelievable listening. His singing style has changed in this album but MeatLoaf is still as good as he ever was.

The 1st Bat showed the bat to the world, the 2nd sent it back to hell for 13 years and then...in 2006...MeatLoaf finally releases the creature into the sky with the 3rd Bat! Never, has history seen an album trilogy quite like this.

My favourite songs are "Alive", "Bad for good" and "If God could talk." 'Bat 3' is loud and larger-than-life and you will want to turn the volume up to the max! I would warn the neighbours if you're going to play this album...it's loud!

Any self-respecting MeatLoaf fan will already have this in there collection. If you don't...make haste and get yourselves a copy. It's worth every single penny for a piece of rock n roll history.

Dad Rock Rules
Firstly, this CD should come with a warning: MOTORISTS - PULL YOUR CAR OVER AND APPLY YOUR HAZZARD LIGHTS BEFORE YOU PLAY TRACK 4 - AIR GUITAR TENDENCIES MAY ENDANGER YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER ROAD USERS. The album is everything you expect from a Meat Loaf album but with a droplet of Queen added to the mix (which is no bad thing!). Brian May lets his hair down and does what he does best on Bad for good, the intro is royalty itself!! The tracks combine old with new and few fail to please. Meat Loaf has called in his friends and the result is golden. The album will appeal to those who like their music loud and filled with emotion. Three small gripes though that lose it the 5 star status in my opinion. The lack of a steinman style spoken intro to a key song seperates it from Bat I and II, disappointingly breaking the feel of a sequel. The title track is not the strongest one on the album and again this disappoints somewhat when you look at the magnificence shown on the openers on the first two albums. Finally the accompanying DVD is short, filler material with very poor sound quality. Roll on the tour dates!!

BACKSTREET BOYS ON STEROIDS
I consider myself a huge Meatloaf Fan, buying everything he ever did with or without Steinman. However, the Bat III lacks the spirit of the other two. I keep expecting a mutant hairier version of the Backstreet Boys to pop out anytime and tell me they like it (uh-huh, uh-huh) that way. Well, you know what they say: Two out of three ain't bad...

Not My Cup Of Tea
Not a big meatloaf fan, listened to it under the recommendation of a work colleague who is not in my clique. The songs are predictable and uninspired. His voice just warbles on and seems to consist of him shouting, which really grates on me, and his lyrics leave a lot to be desired.
