It has its good aspects.
Whenever you want to upgrade your anti-virus you`r allways plagued by the dread of long hours downloading and tricky instructions, terms and policys. I was, but the ease of it all kind of made up for the downloading time - an hour and a bit. I had had bad experiences vith anti-virus upgrades in the past, but this one was different. It really is effective in blocking unwantes softwear in addition to the fact that it has lots of extra features that are dead easy to toggle on and off. It had some plain silly features like parental site-blocking, but I bet you you won`t be dissapointed.

Not the bargain it seemed
I bought this to upgrade three existing PCs in the household running NIS 2006. However, they had been installed at different times - up to 6 months apart, but I assumed I'd get a year of updates for each one as I installed the new software.

That's not how this works - it calculates the expiry from the first time you install it - so the third machine is only getting 6 months of protection as I upgrade it six months after the first one.

I'm sure this might be made clear in the small print, but it took me by surprise !

Update takes along time - no User Accounts
I've just updated from NIS 2006 to NIS 2007. Just be aware that this took 4 hours! It did include 1.5 hours for a full system scan. However the install also paused for some time while I searched around for my password for my "Norton Account" that seems to do no more than store your serial number for you. Protection seemed to be off during this time.
I've not found a way around Parental Control for different users either - I'd hoped the settings would now be made per Windows User.
Amazon - I don't understand your Perfect Partner offer. Surely I don't want Norton Anti-Virus if I've got Norton Internet Security?

hopeless parental controls
This version does not allow you to have different control settings for different user accounts as you could in previous versions. They are either ON or OFF for everyone which means you will have to continously change the settings whenever you use the PC or different aged children use it.

Great value for money
Having previously bought single versions of Anti-virus and System Works, I was interested to see what this would be like.

Installation was pretty straightforward, just remove or disable any previous Anti-virus or Firewall products (including Norton's), and just let the installer chug along. (You may also need to turn off Automatic Updates temporarily if that's active at the time.) It's not an "unattended install", as you occasionally have to click a button, but you don't have to sit there watching the progress bar slowly move along.

Having installed it, the installer goes to Live Update to pick up new virus definitions, etc, and then does a full scan of your PC.

The interface seems clean and simple, but if you need to go under the bonnet and tweak the settings it seems easy enough to find what you need.

The Windows Security Center is disabled because Norton effectively replaces it.

Obviously time will tell how well it performs, but if you're a family or small business with three PCs, this seems a very good way to ensure they are protected.
