Amazon.co.uk ReviewTake the first iPirates of the Caribbean/i film, add a dash of i20,000 Leagues Under the Sea/i and a lot more rum. Shake well and you'll have something resembling iDead Man's Chest/i, a bombastic sequel that's enjoyable as long as you don't think too hard about it. The film opens with the interrupted wedding of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), both of whom are arrested for aiding in the escape of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in the first film. Their freedom can only be obtained by getting Captain Jack's compass, which is linked to a key that's linked to a chest belonging to Davy Jones, an undead pirate with a tentacle face and in possession of a lot of people's souls. If you're already confused, don't worry--plot is definitely not the strong suit of the franchise, as the film excels during its stunt pieces, which are impressively extravagant (in particular a three-way swordfight atop a mill wheel). It may help to know that iDead Man's Chest/i was filmed simultaneously with some of iPirates 3/i, so don't expect a complete resolution (think more iThe Empire Strikes Back/i) or the movie will feel a lot longer than it really is. Bloom shows a tad bit more brawn this time around, but he's still every bit as pretty as the tomboyish Knightley. (Seriously, sometimes you think they could swap roles.) Bill Nighy (iLove, Actually/i) weighs in as Davy Jones and Stellan Skarsgård appears as Will's undead father. But the film still belongs wholly to Depp, who in a reprise of his Oscar-nominated role gets all the belly laughs with a single widened eyeliner-ed gaze. He still runs like a cartoon hen and slurs like Keith Richards--and he's still one of the most fascinating movie characters in recent history. i--Ellen A. Kim/i

Pirates of the CaribbeanI didn't actually receive this exact product when I ordered it. Instead I received a one disk version. So I e-mailed the company and asked them about the dilema. They apologised profusely and offered to let me keep he one disc edition and gave me a full refund so I was quite satisfied. The one disc edition however, is a very nice one.

GreatThe Dvd arrived early, no damage and works very well. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase

Visually stunning but confusing plot makes it irrelevantCaptain Jack (Depp) looks to square his debt with sea lord Davy Jones (Nighy) by finding his heart, but Will (Bloom) and Norrington (Davenport) are also after it.
br /
br /The anticipated sequel to The Curse of the Black Pearl brings all the familiar faces back and none more expected than Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, the Oscar nominated hero from the first instalment, a fine and spontaneous creature with an unfathomable mind and a devilish heart who is sadly not in this film.
br /
br /Depp (Edward Scissorhands) returns alright, but not as the man we loved from Black Pearl. Everything sadly about the character is wrong. The timing is off, the spontaneity has evaporated and everything about Captain Jack seems formulaic, as if conforming to the concept generated by the media, rather than the narrative. The franchise killed the character. The theme park ride increased, toys were made along with imitations present in films such as Epic Movie and somehow that got into the head of the much loved star. And it is the script above everything else that destroys this film, and our hero.
br /
br /Curse of the Black Pearl worked so well because it was relatively simple. Sure the complex ideology of the Aztec gold had heads working overtime but the character storylines were basic but entertaining. Here there are too many additional protagonists, the effects are all over the place (Oscar winning or not they are too muddled and too in your face) and the political agenda enforced takes the shine of the pirate tale.
br /
br /The additional Governors, villains and crew feel encoded for the vastness of the scenery rather than the significance of the plot. They are there to make the story feel huge, but oversteps into overwhelming and incomprehensible
br /
br /Yes the effects are fantastic. The Dutchman is visually stunning and the darkness of the first is given a vivid shake up by this depiction of evil pirates. However the story of Jones' love life and his protagonist in general bring the imagination down. His image too is way overdone. The skeletons in the previous film were just right for fantasy, but this feels like a sick nightmare rather than a legend of the sea.
br /
br /The political madness ruins the fun and imagination of pirates and you have to wonder why this is even encoded in the first place.
br /
br /Dead man's chest offers a computer generated sequel that is consistently poor with infrequent surprises and a tendency to attempt the far fetched when the simple mildness of the first would have sufficed.

pirates of the caribean 2 not as good as the firstThis movie is no where near as good as the first one, but it still has a lot of funny moments from captain Jack. there is still a lot of action and it introduces a new charactor Davy Jones the ruler of the sea. It's worth seeing this movie just to see the slimy creature that is Davy Jones and also for the humour that Johnny Depp puts into the film. over all its worth seeing as the plot is good and full of humour but the first one is alot better.

The best of the trilogyI have one piece of advice for you: IGNORE ALL THE BAD REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are all complete codswallop! I mean, GET A LIFE! This is only the best of the three! Not to mention the extra disc with how they made it (very interesting - have to watch the bit about Davy Jones).
br /
br /This is an ALL TIME FAMILY FAVOURITE in my house - no kidding. There's some dispute in my family about which of the three is best, but we all agree that POTC 2 is the funniest. I mean, there is a three-way battle on a giant water-wheel! For heaven's sake! Not to mention the- No, I won't spoil it for you. Because you're going to watch it. Aren't you? OF COURSE YOU ARE!!!!!!!!!!!
