Its bloody Brilliant.Received it in mail had to tweak a little with uploading the software but after that it worked brilliantly. No hassle what so ever. Fine it might not have a display screen but i saw it before buying it so no complains. Quality of the voice to my suprise was very very clear and has a neat little stand for the phone which i have placed on my bedside. Its not cordless needs connecting through USB and need no other power adapter as it get power from USB. Quiet simple and straight forward to use don't need to be a rocket scientist to use it as long as you can read the little manual book to learn the etra features which again is your choice otherwise it clearly marked which button to use to make a call and to disconnect a call.
After buying my first phone i'm back to buy another for a friend who liked my phone after using it.

A USUAL PHILIPS PRODUCTIs it everyone or just me who has a problem with Philips? Every single item I have ever purchased manufactured by this company has broken down and has been irreparable. This 'phone. was no exception. I can hear who I'm calling but they can't hear me, What's the use of that? I simply will not buy anything manufactured by Philips ever again. If I were able to give it zero stars I would do so.

At last, a Skype phone that works with Vista! After reading the positive reviews for this product I felt OK to order it - even though I've had other so-called Skype phones from elsewhere which were complete rubbish. Having Vista doesn't help matters (I curse Microsoft every day!), but that's another story...
So, after a bit of trepidation, I hit the 'buy now' button and waited.
No problems, as it happens. Needn't have worried. The phone came promptly from amacomuk, wrapped in a padded jiffy bag (no box, but not a problem) and I followed the instructions.
As no driver CD comes with the phone, you just have to go online to the Philips website (as instructed), download and unpack the zip file which contains the installation 'wizard' program which takes you through the setup very simply and easily. This might sound a bit complicated for someone who isn't computer-savvy. It isn't really, but if in doubt just get a friend or one of your kids to show you.
The 'driver' is a small piece of software you install to tell your computer about the kit you're attaching to it. It has to be compatible with the operating system you're using (e.g. Windows XP, Vista, 2000, etc.) so the PC and the kit can 'talk' to each other and function correctly.
Anyway... just follow all instructions on-screen and you shouldn't go wrong.
In operation, the phone is excellent. Very clear sound, good feel to the handset and easy to set up with Skype. It has a decent 2m lead so you can stand up with the phone when using it, and the keypad works well, allowing you to control some Skype functions from the handset instead of your keyboard / mouse.
At LAST I am happy with using VoIP for calls after a number of false starts with other products from Argos, Comet and others! The problems usually arise from conflicts or incompatibilities between your operating system and your phone, also the soundcard in your PC, as well as between the phone and the version of Skype you're using. I think this comes from retailers selling old stock which they still sell to you even though the technology for operating systems and Skype has moved on. Buyer beware!
The negative reviews about it being wrongly described as cordless are aimed at Amazon - not the product. The reviewers must have been a bit naive to think you could get a cordless for this price. In any case, don't people check other product reviews on other sites - and technical specs - before they buy something? Daft.

wouldnt even give this one starEvery one (5) at work got one and no-one is using it. The cable is flimsy, gets knotted up, the phone is so so light it falls over, mine never rings, two others are broken already, I switched to a headset, far more sensible!

Philips skype phone...For the price of this phone, its great and it does the job very well.
Installs great with XP and Vista. Very clear. Super easy to use.
The cord seems fine, just have to look after it. All the base needs is a piece of bluetack underneath it and it works primo.
Prices rule the world, skype is the way kids...
Highly recommended.
