Amazon.co.uk Review
Seasick Steve is Steve Wold, a moustachioed American bluesman who, on IDog House Music/I, plays American roots music with the tight-belt economy and authentic spirit of the genre's originators (there's a lineage here, too – Steve was taught his first chords by Delta bluesman KC Douglas). A long-term street-dweller, Wold's instrumentation is simplistic in the extreme: a three-stringed trance guitar, a slide instrument known as 'the one-stringed diddy-bo', and the Mississippi Drum Machine, a wooden box that provides the most rudimentary percussion. In the true blues spirit, Seasick Steve sings his life. For an autobiography of sorts, head for 'Dog House Boogie', a phlegmatic timeline that commences at the age of four with his parent's divorce, and rambles off through several decades of vagrant living and downhome manners. 'Hobo Low' is perhaps the sharpest, best distilled take on Steve's drifter philosophy, his voice raising to quivering, booming peaks over sparse stabs of blues guitar. 'Save Me', meanwhile, sees the diddy-bo make an appearance – a taut, trembling twang that resembles an amplified rubber band. If this review makes IDog House Music/I sound bare-bones, well, it is – but everyone from blues aficionados to White Stripes fans should find something to love here. i--Louis Pattison/i

Blues king
As I reviewed on Seasick's previous 2 C.D's, brilliant! A rough and ready mix of hobo and blues with a distinctive sound, love it, what a character!

Brilliant
For those of you who don't know (and possibly have better things to do) ; Sea Sick Steve is a modern blues artist. His whole persona is that of a hobo who has seen too much. He uses a three stringed electric guitar ("The Three String Trans Wonder") and a big wooden box that he hits with his foot ("The Manhattan Rhythm Box"). Very few teeth and a big soulful voice. br / br /Now all the indie Kids have all clamped onto him making him famous at a rather odd age. br / br /The majority of the songs are just him singing into a can with a slide, his guitar and this box. This is music in it's purest form, using a repeating hook to keep you entranced. It's the kind of song that I plugged in and became entranced all at once. When he starts playing his blues, you are transported to the world of trains, dosing and california. This album is magic, it's raw and it's also pretty damn cool to boot. br / br /It's a must have for any blues lovers who have lost their way, giving a new lease of life in loving the genre. Also, if you are yet to love the blues, believing that it is a dead genre, then this will be the album for you. br / br /A Must Have.

HoboLow
'Ole Steve has really lived the 'Hobo Low' life in person. This superb collection of tunes is a modern classic of the genre-complete with 'Mississippi drum-machine'! Although the sound production may not be pristine on this particular recording, it's a must-buy for people who are fans of the '3-string gee-tar' slide sound.

seasick steve
Seasick Steve is the nearest you can get to hear proper blues music. His songs expresses the life of tramps and other down trodden people who have a life too. Poor people seem to have more appreciation of the small things that make up our lives with its up and downs. That blues for you.even with a 3 string guitar.

Fantastic! A real Bluesman :)
I (like thousands, no doubt) heard of Seasick Steve on Jools Hollands "Later..." show. br / br /This record is great. I found myself dancing along and stomping in time within the first few tracks. br / br /Here is proof that you don't need to be styled like a Pop Idol to make good music. This is a great album and one that is constantly on in my house. I love Seasick Steve, he's a real inspiration, and it had me reaching for my slide! br / br /This is not a multi-tracked, auto-tuned, over-produced record. It's raw and incredibly lo-fi, but that's its charm and appeal. A reminder of a different time. I'm hoping to get tickets to see Steve this year. I can't wait! This record is fantastic.
