Not classic Sooty
I bought this as I have two other Sooty dvds: Sweep Superdog and Wet & WIld and thought this might be of the same content. Warning, it is absolutely not the same Sooty. This is akin to the new Basil Brush, too fast, distinctly unfunny, with failing attempts to be modern or improve upon itself whatsoever. I felt reassured that Matthew remained but the setting, storylines and content is completely removed from what I conside rSooty to be and was expecting from this purchase. Having a young child of 4 who loves Sooty, I felt in that respect this is also too adult for her...Delgrub focuses for example on "sick and twisted" burglars in Prestwich and relies too heavily on older supposid adult in jokes to get along. There's over reliance on dramatic constant screams, high speed racing around, tacky characters to presumably bring something different or extra in from the Vera Duckwork line dancing Northern Del-Boy cliche to the cool London "cuz" taking the Scampi deviation and modernisation just too far. call me picky, but I also expected to see some magic...in this episode it consisted as a tacked on ending where Sooty sorted out the mess for the policeman by waving his wand and something disapearing in a 10 second feature...not even low scale magic of any sort.
The set is cheap and the puppets new out of the box from poundland losing all realism or furry appeal.
Classic seems to refer to the fact the dvd states 1993 and little else. This must be surely the poor attempt at competeing with the new programmes on offer in the Sooty era which i am actually saddened to see.

So yes Sooty was and remains a great show for kids...but those who'd like to show it to their own and sit through it pleasantly should definately not buy this bargain bucket version, go for one of the other two decent versions instead. I can't imagine this would be for anyone else other than serious fans or students frankly.

Thanks so much for coming back in DVD!
Thanks so much for releasing this DVD!
I used to serch for the Sooty's old VHS products at the charity shops in London.
I had a nice collection of them, but I left all of them to my husbund's son in London when I came back to Japan.

This DVD contains 4 episodes, "Pulling The Wool", "Tidy Box", "Delgrub", "The Stain Remover".
And I really appreciate the footage on the farm in "Pulling The Wool",
it's so beautiful, lovely and of course funny.
My 3 year old son loves Tractor Tom as well, so he was so excited to see the real version of rounding up the sheep and the sheep dog.

I miss a lot of episodes which haven't made into DVD,
especially the ones like, Sweep the Tank with his bandaged ears, a wasp in the van(Sweep was driving), fixing the toy rabbit to destroy it, and etc.
Recently my husband sent me a new(to me) VHS of Sooty Show he found in the charity shop, It is "Down On The Farm".
It is so fantastic and excellent as well. My son is watching it repeatedly every day now. It is so great to show children where the all food come from, in the way Matthew did.
Matthew made so many great films which can entertain children and even grownups, with a lot of important and good educational information.
I'd like to show all his works to my children, so I hope they'll be all released in DVD someday.

At least I'm so happy I can show this lovely DVD repeatedly to my son.
I really appreciate this one has got the subtitles as well even though it's not 100% the same as the actually spoken dialogues.

Sooty and Co finally gets a 'all new' DVD Release
First Thank you to ITV DVD for finally getting around to start releasing Sooty & Co on DVD. For what we know this is a 'all new' DVD release and not a reissue of the 2000 VHS Release "Magic Box of Tricks" as this title is "Box of Magic Tricks Part 1". So please note the above summary for this release isn't right and the three episodes for this DVD or when Part 2 is release is not known yet. While an cover of this release based on the original VHS cover but uses an updated Sooty puppet but the same picture of Sweep, Soo and Scampi. But i do ask please support this DVD by buying it because good sales will kindly mean complete season box sets which fans want.
