i bought this really for my grandson of 3 who promptly got hold of a pencil and *improved* the design so the fish didnt move anymore! my son got it going again and placed it on a higher shelf and its been used as a nightlight casting a soothing blue light over the little -----!!its safe for children by using batteries my son has bought another one to put on his computor table just to look at.so all 3 generations (from 3 to 70)are very happy with this little aquarium.
