makes your ps3 feel more like a proper part blueray player
I bought this because me and family are watching more blu-ray films. So much easier to use than the controller. Makes the playstation part of the front room now, less like a game machine more like an entertainment center.

An excellent addition to any PS3 if you play media on yours
This controller is excellent for playing MP3, Divx, Blue-ray..Well any media on your PS3. br /It has all the options on the buttons and is far more natural to use for playing media than the functional Six axis. As some of the options on the remote are not obvious on the six axis. br /It will turn on your PS3 as it has the PS button and if you use your PS3 as purely the best blue-ray media player out there then this controller is all you need. br /It will display the battery level on screen when ever you press the PS button. br /The only downside is it uses AAA batteries, but they seem to last forever so far. I've had my remote for a year now and it hasn't run down yet. br /It is bluetooth not Infra-red so it doesn't matter where you point it, you will need to sync' the controller to your PS3 first but this is far simpler than it sounds. br / br /On your PS3 go to your System settings and select additional Bluetooth controllers and follow the steps it will ask you to turn on your controller the PS3 will look for it, find it and its done. Its fully explained in the instruction manual. br / br /I use mine for playing my MP4 and Divx movies.. br /Just a foot note but when you put your USB stick in your PS3 to play the movies it will say there is no compatible media on this device.. Hit the triangle for options and select show all media and the movies appear and play just fine.

Simple and easy to use
I didn't like the use of the joy pad controller for controlling playback of films, so I thought I'd give this a go. br / br /Firstly, this makes using the PS3 as a blu-ray player much easier and simpler. Even if you're not 'tech savvy', as they say, you will find this much like any other controller you're already use. br / br /There is a drawback, though. As others have said, this is not infra-red. It is bluetooth based. What does this mean? Well, the remote control does not depend on having "line of sight" (the PS3 does not need to be visible or particularly near by). This is also a benefit for some, so what's the problem? Well, the button that turns the PS3 on is very sensitive. You'll find that a slight knock/tap will end up turning on your PS3. Note also that the 'ON' button is not in the standard position you'll find on remote controls for normal DVD or Blu-ray players. br / br /All in all, I don't find this a problem. I wouldn't be without this remote now.

A must have addition for your PS3 setup
A good price for a great product, and one which is essential if you intend to play DVDs and Blu Rays on your PS3. Yes, you can control these via the game controller but it's a real faff and takes three times as long as with this nifty remote. You do have to "register" it with the PS3 before they will talk to each other but with the PS3 manual it's quick and straightforward. br / br /Not much else to say about it except because it connects to the PS3 by Bluetooth there's none of that waving it around to try and get it to talk to the receiver, hoping there's nothing in the way. This works effortlessly from anywhere in the room.
