Nikon AF-S 18-135mm zoom
This lens is light, compact, easy to handle and great value for money. 135mm telephoto (35mm equiv 200mm) is about the limit for handheld shots without VR, but as long as you have variable ISO it's fine in anything but very poor light. Very clear, crisp definition throughout the whole zoom range, and you can override the auto focus manually. To go better than this you would need to buy the 18-200mm VR zoom, which is 3x the price!

What a great lens
Really pleased with my purchase. Compact size but a great range for most purposes. Crisp definition quick focussing - what more could you want?
