Why DO people, especially music fans who are supposed to be broadminded and unbiased get hung up on how a band LOOKS? Who gives a diddley-do about looks when they can play and sing this darned good? OK, Dee Snider is a smart-mouthed Yank, but where would they have been without him?
br /This is a top-notch compilation of their videos, starting out with none other than Lemmy and Robbo from Motorhead joining them onstage for their first UK TV appearance on The Tube. In the band interviews they have the courage to admit where, upon hindsight, they went wrong and how they'd do things differently now; but hey, that's life, and we'd all like the same opportunity. Well worth getting and they deserve their place in Rock History, and this DVD goes a long way in proving the point!
Its been a frustrating few years as the material TS have released (re-released) has been disapointing. This makes up for it though. The introductions by the band members between all the promo stuff is entertaining and contains information I wasn't even aware off. That in itself was worth the price of the DVD. If only they included the 1983 performances of "I Am I'm Me" and "The Kids Are Back" from Top Of The Pops! The only other niggle is the Stay Hungry Live section is a cut version of the VHS video that came out in the 80's. Dee's swearing is missing which does dilute things somewhat (this review is based on the region 1 DVD so maybe the region 2 vesion is uncut?). I'm sure some of the promo videos are also slightly cut but it is still a great package. Stay sick, play loud!!!
Whether you are a fan of Twisted Sister or not, this is a must have dvd! It takes us back to the 1980's when this group turned MTV upside down with their bizarre yet brilliant music. From then on, rock would never be the same again. This dvd proves that Dee Snider not only can write good music, but he is also brilliant at creating wonderful and entertaining music videos. Get this dvd and you will realise why you liked Twisted Sister so much when you did.
