LG BH100 A pretty good machine
For people who don't want to live in a mechanical jungle, i.e a dvd player, Blu Ray as well as HD DvD player - then the LG BH100 is a good option.
It also makes sense for those who have purchased HD DvD's and do not wish to spend hundreds of pounds dumping these and replaceing these with Blu Rays.
It plays both Blu Ray as well as HD DvD's perfectly fine up to 1080p, it is also worth noting that on LG's website there are no less than 3 firmware updates for this machine that improve the inter-activity and performance of this machine.
It is however worth holding of on purchasing this machine as the upgraded LG BH200 is set to hit the markets soon and is already available in America and Germany.
I enjoyed using the LG BH100 and look forward to owning the LG BH200.

Awful. Should be called Blutamax. Buy an HD Player instead for less...
Put quite simply, dont waste your money. Spend £119.99 on an HD DVD player instead.

This oversized piece of junk takes nearly 2 minutes!! to turn on and load a disk.

It's also obsolete already. The interactive features of BluRay dont work properly and players with a 'profile' to fix this are not even on the market yet and current players CAN NOT BE UPGRADED!!!! to the newer profiles. So if you buy this then you need to buy another one next year to play the latest films!

Not to mention it has all the inherent disadvantages of Bluray - Regionalisation restrictions, incomplete interactive support, lower disk capacity, it costs more, wide ranging use of legacy MPEG2 codecs give inferior picture quality, no network connection or online integration, cant have a normal DVD movie on the flip side, etc.

If you really had to buy a Bluray player then the only upgradeable option is the PS3. But you could spend less in total and get an Xbox 360 with better graphics and games AND a standalone HD DVD player for less.
