i saw this originally back in 1977 over two evenings on bbc 1 ,i found it br /scary atmospheric then.now in 2008 here it is, 160 mins (uk version 151 mins!)of sheer classic bbc entertainmemt.i remember @ the time on t.v. i br /thought"louis jourdan? that smoothie from gigi?"how wrong i was ! he excelled himself proving he WAS the best choice for this adaptation of count dracula. i like his sauve exterior,but then his crazy vampire side. br /judi (black beauty) bowker is an excellent mina westenra susan penhaligan plays both an enchanting lucy westenra then later shows a completely different side as an undead vampire.frank finlay looks like br /he's come straight from the set of bouquet of barbed wire along with susan br /penhaligan to play van helsing he does justice to that part. br /i was very surprised @ jack sheppard (wycliffe,bill brand)as renfield,but in a good way ,he's proved to be a fine actor ,portaying the loony,man on the edge to perfection.the locations were breathtaking,whitby bay highgate cemetary only added to the already polished production,and the br /adaptation seemed to stay faithful to bram stokers novel,ggrreat!
