He's back and he's got a new trick
HI all.

Now i was more in for buying The Orange Box (it will now be called TOB, because im lazy) on the computer, but due to already being brought to the brink of throwing my computer out of the window after useing 'steam' on it i decided to go for the safe option.

Firstly i could not belive what i got with the game, Half life 2, Half life 2 EP 1, EP2, TF2 AND Portal!! wow, amazing value for money (il be a wise trader yet!, 50 points to ANYONE who knows what game thats from, remember points make....errrrm prizes?)

anyway, half-life 2 is just as i rememberd playing it on *shudders* steam. Fun, Long and a great story-line, but the real issue is when i got to EP 1, it is short, boring and overly annoying.
but thankfully, EP 2 saved it!

i mean, HOW CAN YOU HATE A GAME THAT LETS YOU SEND A GNOME INTO SPACE!? i loved that part, i did it for the pure enjoyment of carrying a small smiling garden gnome into battle with me, seeing that smiling face reminded me WHY i was playing this game, and whenever i felt beaten or fed-up that little face cheered me right up! we went in a car together...we went through an ant-lion infested cave together...we went through alot.

EP 2 is a little odd, being the middle child and all of the episodes, all that was annoying was the fact that a new person was introduced into the game (DR Magnisen? i think you spell it) and everyone act's like we all know him, it was a little daunting at first when i was paniking thinking "ahhhhhh i missed out some VITAL storypoint in EP1 OR HALF LIFE 2!!!" untill i found out he is just some guy they through in to get on my nerves.

Team Fortress 2 is really fun! it cartoony like graphics make it near impossible to get mad or fed-up while playing it, it's week point maybe it choice of maps but the maps they do have are VERY FUN and highly addictive not like a certain other game *cough* halo 3 *cough*. the classes you can play as range from the crafty spy to the big heavy gunner, it's fun for anytype of player from the people who enjoy large guns to people who enjoy a more subtle choice.

Portal is a uniquely amazing game with nice mind games that range from easy to "how the ---- do i do that!?" and the robot voice never ceseces to make you giggle with her witty and odd remarks, (party, anyone?)
all in all this game rocks, and i dare anyone to reply saying they dident feel sorry for your *sniff* companion cube....
oh and if that dosent rock your boat, then theres CAKE and a really catchy song at the end of the game....

apature science, we do what we must because we can.

---Gtag is "wierd carrot" add me if you want. little rocket man owner and happy he's in a better place.

write to me meldo...where ever you are.....i miss you

not that great
It may seem your getting value for money with this game but bear in mind half life 2 is pretty old, the other 2 episodes are short and portal is about 3 hours long. It seemed like a chore playing the games, it just was not any fun and I soon got rid of it.
When I first played half life 2 on pc I really enjoyed it but now it seems dated. You're tunnelled along a set route for the most part and it's enemy pops up bang, another one, bang. It's like a shooting gallery and so predictable. There are so many better games out there, more worthy of your cash.

The Orange Box
I bought this for my son and well he said that the graphics in the 5 games were amazing and they offered days of fun. This is his say below

Half Life 2- Brilliant game detail was fantastic starts of slow but is really fun took me about 2 weeks to complete it but i would play it again.Full of puzzles, Action, very close to a movie and a game fitted into one. Its about a character known as gordon freeman in a twisted world fighting against a Alien Government known as the combine.

Half Life 2, Episode 1- was less puzzling but was fun in the same aspects to Half Life 2 only major difference is that you now have someone helping you all the way through the game was my least favourite out of The Orange Box. It is Also the Shortest out of the series taking me 3 days to complete.

Half Life 2, Episode 2- Ok this was my favourite out of The Orange Box i liked this because it introduced a new setting it was rural rather than fighting in a city. It was most difficult out of the 3 and took me about 5 days in total to complete and introduced new enemies known as Hunters which were pretty ace. I liked the challenges in this aswell it was aloso the most humouriss.

Portal- The game portal was set in the same timeline as half life but took on a new character known as Shell (as seen in credits and internet sources) You are working for a company known as Apareture Science and are sleeping but wake up to find you are the only human left you are an experiment that is to overcome obsticals by using portals. Was extremely short 2 days and i finished this game but is slightly creepier and funny at the same time.

Team Fortress 2- Is a multiplayer for live and well i found it really hard to get into partly because i only played it two days using a 48 hour trial but it has fun elements but it really depends on who you are playing with or against i can't really review this game easily but basically its Red team vs Blue team and they have class based combat alot like Star Wars Battlefront 2

things i didn't like well it was too short and most of it was really easy Episode 2 only showed a real challenge but it was really good

It's Orange
The only reason I purchased this game was because I thought it was going to be Karl Pilkington's head in a box, sadly it wasn't. Which actually was a bonus as this game doesn't moan even half as much as Karl. Bonus.

A shame that Team Fortress 2 is broken
The Orange Box contains Half Life 2, plus the current two plot extensions: Episodes 1 and 2. It also contains Portal and Team Fortress 2.

There's plenty of detailed reviews here for the Orange Box and I don't want to repeat what's already been said. I thought the whole package was very good. I especially liked Portal's dry humour and Team Fortress 2 (TF2) has clearly had a lot of time spent on it and is a great multiplayer game.

However I've deducted one star from the review because of TF2's network-related issues. It suffers badly from lag. A recent patch (released late March 2008 via Xbox Live) restricts the number of players to between 8 and 16 based on the host's bandwidth in an attempt to combat this, but even with Virgin Media's XL broadband package (up to 20mbps download, 768kbps upload) I'm unable to reliably host more than 10 players.

While 4v4 multiplayer gaming is pretty much the norm for Xbox I was hoping for larger online games and TF2 appeared to promise this. Unfortunately it fails to deliver.
