Excellent keyboard for absolute beginer or just for fun
I got this keyboard with an idea to learn piano. I reviewed a lot of keyboards before deciding on this one. My requirements were: under 100 pounds, small size, lots of built-in songs, teaching or help function, touch-sensitive keys. I was comparing Casio with Yamaha but chose Yamaha.

Pluses:
1. Size and weight- keyboard is very light and fits nicely into a small space in the corner. I think it's about 4-5 kg unboxed. It's very nice and neat with all buttons located at the top and earphones and midi jacks at the back. It PC compatible but i don't know how to connect yet.
2. Key sounds- grand piano sound is excellent. You can access it by pressing a GP button without the need to reset all settings.
3. In terms of use it absolutely idiot-proof. Just press 3 buttons to pick a song, style, speed or free-style and off you go.
4. Keyboard features a metronome which is loud and clear. It has different key signatures 4,3,2...
5. Teaching suite- it gives you 4 options how you can learn the song. 1) listen and learn, 2)learn right hand only, 3) left hand only 4) both hands. You can record a certain part of a song and it will automatically repeat it again and again. It has a Waiting option which waits for you to find and press the correct key.
6. You can slow down or increase the speed of any song by pressing one button.
7. LCD display without backlit. Shows you all notes as you play. While in Teaching mode it will show the notes you need to play.
8. Volume. The keyboard has a good range of volume from quiet (but very clear) to really loud. I use headphones a lot and the sound is really good.
9. It has 5 octaves which is enough for a beginner.
10. Its made in Japan and finished look is excellent.
11. It has over 150 different funky sounds which are fun to play with.
12. It has 102 pre-loaded tunes ranging from simple Twinkle Star to advanced Mazurka.

Minuses:
1. It doesn't have full weighted keys.
The fact that the keys are not weighted means that no matter how hard i press the key the sound wont change. Which means its impossible to practice piano/forte styles.

2. Your fingers will not get a proper work out as on a normal piano because the keys are not heavy enough. If you are going to learn how to piano properly i.e you enrolled on a course then this is NOT the right keyboard. Just like me you will eventualy need to invest into either upright or full 88-key digital piano. I am going to replace this one with Yamaha p70.

I recommend it to: absolute beginners who dont want to spend 300 pounds on a piano and those who want to use it to fun or to compose music. Its portable and light so you can take it with you in a car.

What's next: There are other features that I forgot to mention but i am now attending piano course so i will keep updating my review.
