Dead without Tarja? Hah, I don't think so!
After a long search lasting not far off a year and a half, with around 2000 demos from all over the world - Nightwish have finally found a new vocalist to replace the legendary Tarja Turunen, who was asked to leave the band in October 2005.

Swedish Anette Olzon is a very different style of singer to classically trained Tarja, but her voice is bright, powerful and very versatile. She performs this song with an energy and passion that really shines through.

Amaranth is probably the happiest sounding song Nightwish have ever done, and it is excellent - the final repetition of the chorus is so awesome :) It's the highlight of the song for me. (This great song is also accompanied by an equally good video - directed by Antti Jokinen, who did the Nemo video - which is on the Amaranth DVD, out at the beginning of September.)

Whatever Tarja's most obsessive, devoted fans might say - Nightwish ARE back, and they are bigger, better and more beautiful than ever before.
I have every confidence that their new album (entitled Dark Passion Play, out at the end of September in Europe, and the beginning of October in the UK) will be absolutely mind-blowing. I am sure Amaranth is nowhere near the best song on the record. I can't wait :D

Songwriter, keyboardist, bandleader and overall Nightwish mastermind Tuomas Holopainen has proved his incredible talent yet again.
Nightwish forever! :)

Amaranth Rules!
It is always a tricky thing to do replacing lead vocalists, sometimes it fails miserably, Blaze Bailey replacing Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden for example.
However, Nightwish have got it spot on, their new vocalist though very different in style than their last is still excellent and this single is both powerful and incredibly catchy. Listen to this without prejudice and I guarantee you'll love it.

Amaranth - Review
I bought the Single of this off Itunes today after seeing the video for it yesterday. It's a great song. Nightwish are back, forget the past and look to the future! The new album is going to seriously rock when it is released.
