WAYLON AT HIS BESTThe final recorded performance by the great man. Superb music not to be missed........ a fitting farewell! Guest performances from Jessi Colter, John Anderson, Montgomery Gentry and Travis Tritt.... along with an array of musicians second to none. This is country music as it should be!

THIS IS THE SHOW OF A REAL LEGENDI have most of Waylons albums that were available on vinyl and most of those available on CD even if sadly most had to be imported.I have his autobiography as well ,but this final live set is the absolute cherry on the cake of a great career. The whole show is backed by the band Waylon always said he'd like and with a crack horn section every song takes on a new dimension.Montgomery Gentry were a new name to me by they certainly can sing some.Waylon's wife Jesse Colter shines in her portion with a wonderful version of I'm Not Lisa',lead by her on piano.I could go on and on about this set,but you need to see and hear it that's the only way to get what i mean.I'm not a big counrty fan but here it's not a problem because the music swings along and I feel this along with the DVD/CD set of Bruce Springsteen in Dublin make two of the most enjoyable live sets for some while.Sadly it was Waylons final concert, but boy he left us with one great and classic set by a superstar still at the top of his talent and you can't ask more than that..unmissable.

The Outlaw - Captured LIVE!!WAYLON JENNINGS & THE WAYMORE BLUES BAND
"Never Say Die: The Final Concert Film"
DVD + 2-CD (Columbia/Legacy)
Arrives in stores July 24, 2007
OVERVIEW:
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
- Dylan Thomas
Waylon Jennings, his health failing, played his last major concert at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium in January of 2000.
Backed by the all-star Waymore Blues Band, whom he called "the band I always wanted", his afflictions evaporated on the Ryman stage.
Joined by wife Jessi Colter and guests John Anderson, Travis Tritt and Montgomery Gentry, he delivered a moving, exhilarating performance revisiting some of his greatest songs. While the concert was filmed and recorded, only a truncated single CD appeared at the time.
Now, for the first time, the complete show is available on 2 CDs and DVD!!
It's Waylon's triumphant last hurrah, done -as always- on his terms.
Many legendary country performers, their greatest years behind them, yearn for that one glorious 'Last Hurrah' on stage and/or records that sums everything up - allowing them to go out on top. Cash was among the few to have that good fortune...Waylon was another. Summoning the inner grit and tenacity that sustained him through good and bad times and made him a true innovator, surrounded by loyal, loving musicians and adoring fans, he created this magnificent epilogue to what will remain one of American music's most remarkable careers.
To borrow from what Chet Flippo once wrote:
Once upon a time in country music, there were giants walking the land....
Waylon Jennings WAS the tallest of them all.
