More of that Flevans genius
I have loads of second albums which have turned out to be a huge disappointment. This isn't one of them. I confess I was thinking that Mr Evans couldn't possibly follow "Make New Friends" - one of my absolute favourite albums, and I was expecting to get more of the same, but probably not quite as good. How wrong can you be; It's similar, but different; As good or better; Better constructed, but no less fun. I will say that Unfabulous is more of a "grower" than the first album, but I thinks it's better as a result. I've really enjoyed getting to know the tracks over a couple of listens. For me, the absolute standout track is "12 Apostles", but they are all belters. Give it a try. Or two.
