Just short of awesome!Whether you prefer Ozzy or Dio as Black Sabbath's vocalist, one thing is beyond doubt, Dio is the better singer, possibly the best Heavy Rock/Metal has ever had.
br /
br /I like both of them for different reasons. Here's where it gets contentious. I think Dio brought the best out of Tony Geezer and that continues with the new album, The Devil You Know. Whether you like or dislike Dio's lyrical content, the music is awesome! Heaven Hell the album is possibly one of the best Metal albums of all time and The Devil You Know, in my opinion, is going to be the best Metal album of 2009 or even this decade.

br /Live At Radio City Hall is an awesome live DVD (and double CD album) but does have a fault and that is right at the beginning. E5150 is a perfect opener but why oh why did they chose to follow it up with the Dehumanizer track, After All (The Dead). COME ON GUYS, it should have THE MOB RULES! Everyone in the audience would have bet their lives on it as did everyone I know who has seen the DVD. That would have been a barnstorming beginning.
br /
br /Where is Wishing Well, Turn Up The Night and Buried Alive? I would rather have heard those songs than Vinny's drum solo. No disrespect Mr. Appice.
br /
br /Tony Geezer's playing is just magical as are Dio's vocals. When are they ever less than excellent? I saw Sabbath on the Heaven Hell tour back in the early 80's at Stafford Bingley Hall. When the album was released most people were aghast that Sabbath could continue without Ozzy despite the crap previous albums and tours. When I my mates got our tickets we were insulted for being disloyal to Ozzy, despite the fact that they were fans of Rainbow with Dio as vocalist. Figure that one out! Amazing how many of those same people now say the opposite to that which they said back then.
br /
br /We had the album and it was undeniably great. The gig was amazing, Ward, Iommi, Butler Dio superb. It was the first time I'd seen the Devil's Horns.
br /
br /Nearly 30 years have passed and this DVD brought memories flooding back. Even the taste of the crappy burger I had whilst waiting to get in. It was magical.
br /
br /There is not a duff song on this collection. The two new songs, The Devil Cried (ignoring the drum solo) and Shadow of the Wind are excellent. Can Iommi write riffs or can he write riffs? The vast majority of groups of any genre need a much bigger back catalogue to create a two hour concert of this quality. (To those new to Dio Sabbath, they only did three albums) These classic songs sound even better now if that's possible.
br /
br /I hope there is more to come from these superb songwriters as the band Heaven Hell. As much as I like Ozzy, please put Ozzy/Sabbath on the back burner and write that next Heaven Hell album. They really could conquer the world again!

Fantastic stuffI saw Heaven and Hell in Cardiff the other week and this is a nice "indirect" souvenir, as the stage set, performance and set list is exactly the same in this DVD.
br /
br /I love the original Sabbath stuff, but I was struck how different this incarnation of Sabbath to the Ozzy line-up. Tony Iommi is a lot freer, and the up-tempo songs really chug along with more groove than on older Sabbath stuff. I suppose Ronnie being able to remember the words to the songs without autocue helps loosen things up a little too :-)
br /
br /For a group of guys in their late 50s-early 60s they can still rock - Metallica take note!!!
br /
br /I'm not sure what sets the £19 version apart from this £12 version - this cheaper DVD seems to have the same extras and is excellent value. The road-movie in the extras is interesting and worth a viewing.

This mob rules!Being the owner of a few less than flattering 'nostalgia rock' DVDs from heroes such as Blue Oyster Cult and The Tubes (oh Fee ... where did it all go wrong?), I questioned my motives for submitting my credit card details for another dust collector. I still felt uneasy when it arrived and I looked at the uninspiring cover - "Its only money" I said to myself. But it was money well spent.
br /
br /I shall get my one gripe out of the way first in that E5150 doesn't link into Mob Rules which doesn't make sense to me as they are as inseparable as the Big Brother twins and After All is in a bit low a key for Dio's voice to shine from the start. But unlike many singers whose voice tires as the set goes on, Dio's just gets better and better! And what a set list ... its all here, brilliantly performed and with so much energy for a bunch of old geezers. Talking of geezer, Tony is in sparkling form, as is Ronnie and Vince, yet its Mr. Butler that steals the show. Vastly underrated (well by me anyway); his driving relentless bass runs copyrighting the term 'Heavy Metal' as his own. He is amazing to watch, but then so is the whole DVD.
br /
br /By the time you get to Neon Knights (which brought back happy memories of a summer playing the single over and over again on the jukebox in Caister), you are left with a feeling of total fulfillment as if you were there and had a bloody good nights entertainment from a bunch of fossils that are old enough to be your grandfather!
br /
br /So all you young rock and metal bands out there take note: buy this DVD and watch it over and over again. Learn from it.
br /
br /THAT'S how you put on a show!

The talent does not wither!I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this film looks, sounds and how great the band perform. I only saw this band previously on the Black Blue video from about 1980, and they are far better now! The band are in great shape and it is refreshing to hear these songs played again - and with so much passion. Dio is a phenominal singer, but it never sounded right him singing the "other" stuff. Rejoice in the fact that you won't have to hear/skip past "Paranoid" for the zillionth time!
br /
br /Iommi is just incredible and continues to inspire with his ability. Vinnie Appice is also just so right for this material, and gets to let rip with a drum solo.
br /
br /Well worth the money.
