bobbyjoe read this
BOBBYJOE you obviously love this album but pleeeeeeeeeeeeease listen carefully before you start miss-quoting verses. Common does not say "like cash is clay" what does that mean??? HE SAYS "LIKE CASSIUS CLAY" THAT'S MOHAMMED ALI'S REAL NAME. You give this album 5 stars, imagine how good it'll be when you know what he's saying. There's a couple other mistakes but..... Anyway, God bless for supporting REAL HIPHOP. Oh and its a good album not as good as "ONE DAY.." and nowhere near "RESURRECTION" PEACE.

Good but not his best
This is another quality album from one of the best MC's in Hip Hop. I still prefer his earlier albums to this ie Resurrection/Like Water for Chocolate as his lyrics were cleverer and the production more subtle but what Commons found is a producer with the reputation and following that allows him to be mainstream yet still credible as an MC. The collaberation with Kanye works brillinatly over this album with catchy basslines and funky beats and Commons voice and lyrics always sound 'real'. With this album and BE I hope it will make more mainstream Hip Hop fans look into his earlier albums and discover that there is alot more to Common than his work with Kanye. Good Album from a true MC.

If there were any justice it would sell 10+ Million!
Just a great listen, incredible production and Common delivers.

I usually pick out songs from Common I didn't use to love his albums but I love this one.
It's very hard to pick out a single outstanding track.

wow
I liked this album the minute I started playing it, and its grown on me since - it has been on repeat constantly for like a week already. "Be" was a great album but I think this one is a lot better - aside from perhaps one or two tracks the whole album is comprised entirely of classics. And its soulful, Im always in a good mood after the last song. Go buy it now!

The Roots Of Modern Hip Hop
Some reviews have been critical of this album and accusing it of being too "commercial." I think this album needs to be put within the context of modern Hip Hop. Unlike during the mid-nineties Hip Hop is currently being seen as 50 Cent, Kano, Black Eyed Peas and Timbaland! This album sets the bar as what Hip Hop should be and not what is has become.
This album is full of well written and well crafted songs discussing a wide range of contemporary issues. The beats are well produced, catchy and easy on the ear! I agree its not as good as albums like "Like Water for Chocolate" but its still an utterly fantastic and eclectic album from Common.
I heavily recommend this album to both Common fans and those experiencing Common for the first time, as well as those who love real Hip Hop!
Favourite tracks would include, The Game, Misunderstood & Start The.
