Look at Natasha Khan, with her Cleopatra shawl and elfish hair, on the cover of iFur and Gold/i and you’ll surely have this half-Pakistani, half-English songstress pegged as the first British riposte to the US freak-folk movement that’s thrown up figures like Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, and Cocorosie. In some ways, that’s an accurate comparison: Bat for Lashes has a way with mystique, one which elevates even quite simple topics-–the break-up tale of "What’s a Girl to Do?"-–into grand achievements of ghostly trauma: "My bat-lightning heart," she whispers, "Wants to fly away". Dig a little deeper, though, because the music to be found on iFur and Gold/I has a more complex provenance. "Horse and I", a harpsichord-led track embellished with Theremin and a militaristic drum motif, is the sort of vintage-modern soundscape reminiscent of Bjork at her most restrained, while elsewhere the dramatic tale-telling of "Prescilla" and "Bat’s Mouth" suggest Bat for Lashes might yet develop into a songwriter of the poetic calibre of Kate Bush. The debut album from Bat for Lashes is a haunting, richly orchestrated work that, for all its experimentation and intelligence, is emotional and deeply moving. i--Louis Pattison/i

Fantastic Value
I heard about Bat for Lashes via u tube. I thought the video was moving and reminded me of when I was younger. All I can say is this album is excellent, the lyrics and music are fantastic. The lead singer's voice is so emotive. This cd is definitely a must buy. You will play it over and over. Enjoy!

Stunning!!
I saw Bat For Lashes perform on Later with Jools a few weeks ago. br / br /I was so amazed by them, I have bought both this and the later album, Two Suns. I listened to Two Suns last night, and Fur Gold tonight (it only arrived in the post today). br / br /Whist Two Suns is good, it will take a few plays for me to fall in love with and am in no hurry to play it again. br / br /However, just a brief listen to Fur Gold has blown me away! What a fantastic first album to come up with! br / br /I apologise for not yet being able to list the tracks give a synopsis of each, having only acquired this literally a few hours ago but it is amazing. Such beautiful haunting music. br / br /I am really looking forward to playing this one again - will put it in the car for a few days! br / br /Well worth buying!

What A GEM
Amazing debut by an Amazing artist!!!!!!!!!! so precious it might reduce you to tears, can't be explained in words so i won't bother suffice to say i highly reccomend it

Bat For Lashes
Good album. A decent sound, what's a girl to do? is an amazing song. hope they make another decent album like this one.

Fur And Gold
My friend recommended this album to me, reminded me of lots of other great female singers first time round! Now I just can't stop playing it what a cracking album. Ps laughed my head off when I saw the bicycle video.I can not wait to see them live !
