The best DVD-single Nightwish have ever released!I purchased the Amaranth 2CD single on the day it was released, and was delighted with it. Some complain that Nightwish with new vocalist Anette Olzon is "no longer Nightwish" - but to my ears and soul, it still has Nightwish written all over it in big sparkly letters.
I ordered this DVD as soon as I possibly could, and it's awesome :)
The DVD contains the same as the audio single:
Amaranth, Reach (Amaranth demo), Eva (orchestral), While Your Lips Are Still Red (theme from the Finnish film Lieksa!, written by Tuomas and performed by him, Marco and Jukka from Nightwish (among others)), Amaranth (orchestral) and Eva (demo).
Personally I am not so keen on the demos, but I know some people that are, it's all a matter of taste (well, what isn't?) - but the orchestrals are very VERY beautiful, as is WYLASR.
The DVD also has:
Amaranth music video (5.1 and 2.0 sound), Amaranth (Making Of documentary) and WYLASR music video.
Both the music videos for Amaranth and WYLASR are abosolutely excellent, but the Making Of documentary is certainly my favourite part of the DVD. It is by far the best music video documentary they have ever done. Nemo's documentary was just a few behind-the-scenes shots to the song, Wish I Had An Angel's was a little better with a couple of short interviews - but Amaranth's is nearly 45 minutes long, showing rehearsals and video takes, plus footage of the characters in the video and the band on set. The band, as always, make me smile and even laugh out loud at times :)
All in all, this DVD is very enjoyable - a must-have if you're a NW-freak like me :) or possibly even if you are just getting into Nightwish and want to see what the band are like as people, as well as hearing their music.
The new album Dark Passion Play is due to be released on 26th September in Europe and 1st October in the UK.
Don't miss it - Amaranth is an awesome song, but I'm 510% sure it's not going to be the best song on there. I promise you :D
Enjoy \m/><\m/
