utterly depressing
Watched this on a rainy Sunday afternoon with my six year old. Next rainy Sunday afternoon I might watch something a bit more upbeat. Schindlers List perhaps!

Sooooo Disapointed!!!
I brought this item for my friends niece to watch, but as we do with all films me and my friend watched it first as her 8 year old niece can get quite upset about things. It moved us both to tears but we are soft lol :) i would advise watching first to see if your child can cope with what happens within the film. Also i was soooo disapointed i was ready for another cronicles of narnia with all the magic and a fairytale ending it was more like "my girl" a friendship between a boy & girl. Still good film just a disapointment as not at all what you are expecting.

***WARNING FOR THOSE WITH YOUNG OR SENSITIVE CHILDREN***
I'm sorry but I'm going to tell you the story so that no-one else suffers the way we did!
You're led into a great story by the main characters, Jess & Leslie, who become friends because they're both outsiders at school. They discover the land of Terabithia and go there everyday after school.
However Jess comes home one day to find Leslie has gone adventuring alone and has died in an accident.
The rest of the movie is about Jess grieving for Leslie and blaming himself for her death!
Totally unsuitable for sensitive children, left us all in floods of tears. The writers and producers should be prosecuted for producing such a film and misleading everyone with the trailers!

Great but beware the sad ending
THis is an enchanting film, with good acting and a gripping story line, with lots of surprises. My daughters weren't prepared for the sad ending though. Won't spoil it by telling you what happens, but do have the tissue box ready! Not suitable for the over-sensitive child.

great film, unexpected twists, a little jolted in places....
A Very good film but like other reviewers have said the advertising campaign, even the cover art are and were very misleading making you think that this would be a fantasy film full of strange creatures, magic and fairy dust.
It is not that at all but rather an emotional tale depicting the friendship and bond between 2 children and the imaginary world in which they create, along with dangerous imaginary creatures and some good sfx when they are used.
However the real danger is not something imaginary or mythical and the circumstances shown are very sad- although a bit abrupt and mis-jointed.
May be a bit upsetting for younger viewers, and it probably won't hold their attention for very long as there are no fairy tale creatures, my 5yr old loves this film and was not upset at the sad scenes as they were so abrupt and not very detailed- so maybe that was intentional, but for an adult audience a little more detail may be needed, i don't mean this in a gory way, just that events just happen at the click of a finger with no visual confirmation, what's said is so.
The ending could have been better and i'm sure everyone is thinking the same thing when he and his little sister enter terrabithia once again....yes, it would have been nice wouldn't it? but i guess they wanted to keep it realistic? which seems a bit contadictory!
anyway you probably don't know what i'm talking about if you haven't seen it so my advice is to watch it you can pick it up for less than a fiver so it's well worth getting and watching, with or without the kids!!
