DVD DescriptionThe Deal or No Deal Family Challenge [Interactive DVD] invites you and your family to enter the money-making dream factory. If you've ever watched "Deal Or No Deal" at home, wondering how you'd fair in the crazy chair, then this is your chance to find out. Now you can play at home with your family and friends to beat The Banker--if you make the right deal at the right time that is! On this interactive DVD host Noel Edmonds guides you through each stage of the game, but along the way you can ask advice from your favourite contestants from the show, ask The Banker a question, request an insightful poem, or try out the brand new lucky dip feature. It's your show, it's your game... but have you got what it takes to beat The Banker?
SynopsisThe hit TV show "Deal or No Deal" revolves around a nail-biting game in which contestants are given a sealed box containing an undisclosed sum of cash. They then have the option of either making a deal with The Banker and taking the cash in their box home, or opening up to 22 new boxes which each contain a different amount; one of these boxes contains a quarter of a million pounds! The Banker's aim is to make a deal with the contestant which will ensure they walk away with the least amount of money possible. The aim of the contestant is to hold out until they open that dream box containing a quarter of a million pounds. By process of elimination contestants must decide whether to accept the Banker's offer, or be a bit more daring and play on until they hit (or miss) the jackpot!

Good in theory, not slick enough in practiceI enjoy the show but I'm afraid I can't recommend this product unless you are very patient. The main frustration I have with this game is the slow speed with which the DVD plays, I've tried this on 2 DVD players and it was just as slow on each. You answer a question and then the DVD takes a good few seconds searching around before it gets to the next screen which can prove very tiresome and really spoilt my enjoyment. There also seemed to be quite a lot of question repetition, though I did play this for a couple of hours non stop. However, after a couple of hours I was ready to throw the DVD right out of the window as the slowness spoilt what was otherwise a good game for me.

With a huge slew of rather poor DVD family games this one is no exception. Now dont get me wrong, deal or no deal is a rather entertaining tv show with Noel giving a strong performance throughout each episode. I really wanted to like this but once again im left with a bad taste in my mouth:
The Loading times are dreadful
Questions keep getting repeated
Its depressing to play.
Trust me on this one save your money and just stick to the tv show, cause this just aint worth your time.

the real dealThe DVD is an improvement on the original. Just like the show format you have to beat the banker. I have played this with my family and friends and everyone enjoys it, we have on occassion beat the banker, generally it seems to be who can lose the money the quickest, but its always a good laugh to see how far people will go when they know there's no real money involved.

Good Game But UninspiringThis is OK for a bit of fun but I found that I easily got bored with it, I'm sure that kiddies and two or more players would get more out of it than a single user. One of the main drivers for the great popularity of this on TV is that someone actually wins real money by the gambles they take. However, transfer this to your lounge on your own telly with no cash at the end and there is disappointment. In fact the last game I played I picked boxes in numerical order purely because it wouldn't make any difference to the outcome of the game as they seem to be pre-programmed and there is still no cash. I have given the game 3 stars because it is quite good but not great but I would give it 5 stars for the graphic qualities and looking as much like the real program as possible.

Lacks atmosphere, and has problems. The problems with this game stem from the fact that the order of the values you reveal is decided by the game before you start opening the boxes from a set of 'games' already planned out. As a result, several times when playing, despite picking boxes randomly, games would repeat (Eg on the first round opening £10, 1p, £5, £750 then £100,000 both times)
Also the reactions from the contestants, audience and Noel are somewhat random compared to the value revealed (huge cheers for £250 but no reaction for 1p) Another problem is when quiting a game and starting another you find the boxes you opened in the previous game are still missing.
All in all the game could be much better.
