Cream of the crop
Clapton does it again and introduces some (many?) of us to a range of fabulous, talented younger players, along with the grey beards (BB, Sumlin, Lockwood): Susan Tedeschi has a wonderful voice isn't at all bad on guitar also. Her husband, Derek Trucks band, creates an eclectic sound -possibly the best slide player around today? It was lovely to see the respect and joy he evidently felt in supporting Johnny Winter. br /This respect is also reflected in Bramhall's dedication to Clapton - and what a sound created by the double drummers in his excellent presentation! I highly recommend his Welcome album (especially if you like Hendrix) br / br /The return of John Mayer after a rather self centred introduction on the 2004 DVD was also welcome...if you haven't, get his Continuum album - or the CD/DVD of the live material. The most exciting talent for pop-rock-jazz-blues in the world? Blues with a sex symbol. Whatever next? br / br /I wasn't overly familiar with Blind Faith - so the material brought together by Clapton and Winwood was a real treat. I had no idea Winwood was such a great guitar player as well as keyboardist. I look forward to their 2xDVD/2xCD br / br /The best was still Clapton, however, including a truly spectacular Little Queen of Spades. Wonderful! Was it beaten at Hyde park in 2008? Maybe one day that'll appear as a DVD too! br /Throw in a bit of Buddy Guy what semed to be a few dozen guitarists to help him out for the finale...The best complilation DVD yet. br / br /Presumably we'll have the delight of another concert in 2010 - start saving now...for the concernt or the DVD!

Disappointing
While i applaud Clapton for this charitable event in a good cause, i found the performances and range of players featured in this concert disappointing. Most of the performances came across as lacklustre and there was an overemphasis on the blues/rock categories. I became bored of hearing an endless procession of the same blues scales albeit by different artists. br / br /The range of the guitar styles across categories was not in evidence here which is very sad. Highlights of the show were John Mclaughlin and jeff beck's bass player tal Wilkenfeld. br / br /

CROSSROADS GUITAR FESTIVAL 2007
This concert was absolutely brilliant, a must see for anyone interested in music especially guitar music. The standard of playing was awesome with some great sets from the likes of Albert Lee, B B King. Stevie Windwood, Jimi Vaughn, Robert Cray and many more. I wish I was there.

Eric Clapton - Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007
What can I say - this is simply the best live rock/blues concert recording - EVER! br /Clapton effortlessly demonstrating why he is in a league of his own. br /Great(guitar)performance from Steve Winwood, superb playing from John Mayer, Robert Cray, Jeff Beck (where the heck did he find that bass player?), Derek Trucks, Vince Gill, et al. Spine-tinglingly good.

very poor sound quality
Well, having enjoyed the 2004 crossroads dvd I couldn't wait to get this. br /Frankly its not as good as the Texas recording although it includes Johnny Winter whom we rarely see in action.Clapton is in top form however on disc two. br /My main gripe is the appaling sound quality. It crackles throughout both the dvd's and is unbearable. ( Its not my equipment- honest.) I foolishly threw it aside in disgust and now its too late to return it. beware.
