After a series of murders people begin to suspect AE but is it really her? This is a decent effort not as good as Flavia the Heretic but better than stuff like the Sinful Nuns of ST Valentine and The Nun and the Devil. The film was tagged as a 'video nasty' but like many other films that got tagged as nastys this is actually quite mild and was probbaly picked on because of its title ( like other mild films SS Experiment Camp and Cannibal Terror ).

br /The dvd from Shameless is presented in anamorphic widecreen ( 1.85:1 ) and is fully uncut restoring the cuts made ( needles in the face of an old woman ) to the Redemption vhs from the 90's and adding a few other scenes not seen in the previous versions. Extras wise we get a short interview with Ekberg ( shot at the same time as her La Dolce Vita interview ) the trailer and trailers for other Shameless treats.
Firstly I have to say that one of the reviews on here seems to be so concerned with the Shameless label and the `great things' they've done with the release of this film that you have to wonder if it comes from independent source!

br /Ignoring that, Killer Nun is a below average slasher film. It wasn't awful, but certainly not one of the best. There are occasional funny moments and there are one or two decent gore scenes. Ultimately though it was let down by its slow pace, predictability and lack of gore, considering the genre.

br /The uncut scenes that appear in this version added nothing to story. They weren't gore scenes either, like you might have expected, they were just random `talking' scenes that in a better film would be called `character development.'

br /There is a short interview with Anita Ekberg but it's none to interesting. Not sure why it was banned. If anything it was probably because the hospital is run by nuns and one of them is a lesbian killer (that is, a killer lesbian, not killer of lesbians).

The only reason I can see for this film being banned is that its a load of cobblers.

br /Couple of good scenes with the young nun showing us her stuff but other than that complete garbage.
A welcome UK DVD release for Killer Nun from the cult Shameless label. Here presented digitally remastered, widescreen - and uncut! This is also an extended version with footage never seen in the UK before.
br /The disc includes an exclusive interview with Anita Ekberg herself and the presentation is superb. Not just a must for Video Nasty completists but an essential purchase for cult film fans of all fields. Grab it now.
