Editorial reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
It doesn’t matter whether you approach ISpiceworld: The Movie/I as a guilty pleasure, or an easy carnival of fun: it still holds together better than you have any right to expect. P Made at the height of the Spice Girls’ fame, ISpiceworld/I’s paper-thin plot finds the girls moving between a series of light excuses for a song, before arriving at the obligatory big concert at the end. It’s brainless stuff, of course, but the wise move here was to bring in a variety of names to help give the film a little more credence. Richard E Grant, for instance, works well as the band’s manager, and while you’d hardly say it’s the best film on the CVs of Roger Moore, Richard Briers or Alan Cumming, their presence does ISpiceworld/I no harm. P It’s the five Spice Girls, of course, whose raw enthusiasm (as it was back then) powers ISpiceworld/I though, with a surprising number of laughs, and enough moments to enjoy. And while the band may bear little relation to their older selves now attempting to relight the success they enjoyed, for the Spice Girls, ISpiceworld/I proved to be a successful project, and one worth giving another spin. It was never an Oscar winner, but it can still raise a smile. --IJon Foster/I

Awful!
I love the spice girls and was thrilled to see that they were going on tour again, so to get in the 'mood' of spice girl fever i thought i'd watch this with my sister... well after 10 mins i was falling asleep, but i stuck it out, and believe me it is one of the worst films ever! Although, i went to see the spice girls live at the o2 and they were amazing!!!

This far from a "10th anniversary" edition
As much as I would like to give it higher marks, this "10th anniversary" edition DVD that was recently released is nothing but a re-release with different added outer packaging. Everything else with this edition is exactly the same as the original DVD release. br / br /This is my main reason as to why I am giving it low marks as it seems deceiving to call it another edition where in reality it isn't. It seems the original is still available and I'm certain that is far more cheaper.

It's definatly a SpiceWorld again...
Since the Spice Girls returned to the pop scene earlier this year, it was inevitable this would be re-released. It was originally released in 1997, at the height of Spice mania. The girls' play themselves as they prepare for a world televised concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Richard E Grant plays the Spice Girls road manager. Roger Moore is portraid at the big boss (Simon Fuller perhaps). Oh and Meatloaf plays their tour bus driver! Featuring an all star cast including Elton John, Stephen Fry, Johnathan Ross, Hugh Laurie and Michael Barrymore as their dance instructor. This film is more of a music biography of the fame that they owned in the late 90's. It's a celebration of Girl Power! Not to be taken too seriously, light hearted fun for all the family. Especially for those, unaware of the pop scene today, and the current press coverage of the Spice Girls, and will answer the questions on the youngsters minds - What did they do? br /Special features may have been changed from the original release on DVD. Behind the Scenes included. br /Great soundtrack too!
