not fun, badly paced, and the DVD doesn't know all of the rules
The television programme version of this game features Bruce Forsyth, one of the legends in television. Not only does he have great catchphrases at the drop of a hat, but his enthusiasm, humour and good-natured temperament make the game really enjoyable.

There is none of that here. In the TV show, you have "You have a 3! It's a good card - do you want to go higher or lower? You said "higher" - and it's a 7!" Instead, you get commentary that will make a 6-year old happy, but nobody else. Picking correctly gets you rewarded with a sound effect and "Going lower is correct", or "it was higher. Well done". Or "Bad luck! You picked wrong." No - really!?

There are bursts of suspenseful music, but with no point at all. This is fake enthusiasm, where you know that the person speaking couldn't care less.

Differences from the TV show - apart from the lack of fun. Answering the "We asked 100 people" requires an answer ending in "5", so you can't answer "93". Also, on my third game I got a repeat question.

When you answer a question correctly, you get control of the board - but if you don't like the look of your first card, you can't swap it (unless you had previously frozen). If you go wrong...

Sorry - that's the "subtle" music. Anyway, your opponent gets control of the board.

"High or low - turn the card to know".

And if he goes wrong, you get control of the board again, and so on until someone wins or someone freezes.

However, much as I do not like the poor pacing on the first round, the second round is worse. The music playing gets much intrusive, and the DVD reminds you at every turn...

...how much money you have - even when you are going to see it on the next compulsory screen.

You can't gamble as much or as little as you want. You are limited to 4 choices divisble by £250, generally 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the money. If you have an 8 and £4,000 in the pot, the minimum you can gamble is £1,000 - and that's a real gamble.

*Doo-doo-dum* "If you want to stop, you can choose to swap."

I'm sorry. What sort of a catchphrase is that? It doesn't make sense either - you play on if you swap.

*Doo-doo-dum* "How much have Team A got in their pot?"

I'm playing as the solo player; why am I being called "Team A"? Also, answer the question - how much money do I have? There is no real interactivity - it is one-liners which do not connect with each other. No "You've got £4,000 and an 8 - that's a lot of money, and a risky card." Instead, it's "It's time to gamble".

Overall, you are better off with a pack of cards. And a couple ladies to shuffle them.

Oh dear, this is bad. Very bad.
Don't waste your money on this DVD - it's nothing like the TV shows. The questions repeat after just one game, the computer cheats in one-player mode, the rules aren't consistent and the same cards are often in the same position from game to game. Quite simply, it's absolute rubbish.

boooooo slow sad and slow
How excited was I when this game became avaialble, 1 of my favourite games shows of all time. BUT from the start to my horror things were no right. First glaring omition NO BRUCIE !! boooo rubbish !!!! you cant pick you answers, you have to choose from options given and both teams get a chance to do the prize board at the end so the loser can still win rubbish !! and the most important thing of all NO DOLLY DEALLERS how rubbish is that don't buy game also very very slow. HOw unhappy am I ? boooooooooo

really good
Hey if you loved the tv show and then you will like dvd game is just as good as the tv show. And yes I was shouting at the screen "higher" and "lower" when it was my sister turn. We all had hours of fun and got really into the game. Can't wait to play it again at Christmas with all my family around

Enjoyable Game
Play Your Cards Right has always been a favourite game show of mine and now that I can play it on DVD all the better! It's a great game to play with my Children and all the family love to be involved.

I can highly recommend this to anybody.
