It’s right there; on the cover, the spine, or illuminating from your iPod screen. But it’s hard to corroborate it in your mind. London singer-songwriter Adele’s debut album is titled i19/i, referencing her age, and there are hints it’s true--its themes are almost exclusively concerned with young love’s highs and (mostly) lows and there’s a clipped estuary English tide-mark to her voice, allying her with the fresh-faced modern female songwriting guard; Lily Allen, Kate Nash, et al. But the sheer weight of her maturity--vocally, emotionally and in overall poise—really reduces that all to circumstantial evidence. Adele is carrying something much bigger here, you can’t help but be consumed by it on "Daydreamer" with it’s jazzy tip-toeing guitar and elastic vocal range and "Hometown Glory" with its deep, lonely piano serving as a bed for the raw emotional undressing that takes place above it. Draw a line between timeless, powerful singers like Ella Fitzgerald and the modern standard of Amy Winehouse; Adele balances and pirouettes confidently along that tightrope. Winehouse particularly informs the likes of "Cold Shoulder" and double-bass heavy "Best for Last", and that’s not an alignment that’s ever going to be easy to realise credibly. Needless to say, she does, with ease. On future classic "Chasing Pavements" she also gives a nonsensical phrase a handful of heart in lieu of meaning and when you can pull that off convincingly you know you’re in possession of something special. very good album,only bought it because i know one of her relatives,i love the raw unpolished production,grat to listen to on a decent system 8/10

The Best Album I`ve Heard In 8 Years
Yes that`s right, Her amazing soulfull voice got me since the first time i heard`er, every song is so unique, I really feel so relate to hometown glory, so everytime a hear that song i know why i love her music.

Brilliant
Adele is a great singer in my opinion, she doesn't have to take her clothes off or have a perfect figure or tons of make-up or do crazy things or dress like a maniac.. Her voice is enough.. Another example that some of the greatest music comes from the UK. One of my alltime favorite songs and so my favorite on this album is "Hometown Glory", I love the piano (even the instrumental is great), her vocals, the lyrics are so meaningful. Her brilliant ode to London. br /I hope to hear more from her and that this doesn't stay her first and last album!

Good stuff
I wasn't expecting myself to like Adele when I first heard about her, but I have to admit this album is great. It's not perfect, but it has some classic songs on it, and you can't deny the girl's got an amazing voice. I really love the singles "Hometown Glory", "Chasing Pavements" and "Cold Shoulder" best, but her cover of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" is beautiful, and I also adore the catchy "Right As Rain" and "Tired". If you liked her singles, I'd recommend this album, it is really good stuff.

what i thought.
two or three great tracks, but the rest of it was a bit dull, and i would'nt listen to the whole CD in one go. Just my favourite couple of tracks. Sorry Adele!
