For all 14 rounds we get the competent Jeremy Shaw and for most races, his side-kick is Canadian Champ Car Atlantic racer James Hinchcliffe. The commentary is clear and well informed, but not as entertaining as the US network broadcasts of Rick Benjamin and Jon Beekhuis.
The good news is that the picture quality on the 2007 review looks a lot better than the previous year.
The bad news? Well it's still in the old 4:3 screen ratio in NTSC standard definition. Unlike F1, Champ Car did not embrace widescreen HD technology.
In the words of Champ Cars own President, Steve Johnson 2007 was "an up and down year". The DVD documents the 14 (should have been 17) races of the 2007 season and includes the merry-go-round of drivers and sponsors for many of the teams. Mexican driver Mario Dominguez can be seen driving for four different teams (in one season!).
Champ Car had so much to offer. In 2007 it featured four British drivers, two European races and a truly beautiful new racing car. It was one of THE most entertaining racing series in the world.
As of 22nd February 2008, Champ Car ceased operations and merged into the rival Indy Racing League. This review is therefore now a collectors item.
