Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk ReviewLed Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and bluegrass crooner Alison Krauss may not be the likeliest of musical combinations. But on this welcome collaboration album, they work beautifully together, wringing a kind of magic from other people’s songs. The key to the album is its versatility. Between them, Krauss and Plant can handle a vast repertoire on their own, and here they take on the lot, from folk laments and country soul to searing blues and upbeat rock roll. Overseen by Elvis Costello producer T Bone Burnett and backed by high caliber musicians like guitarist Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Mike Seeger, iRaising Sand/i sees the duo create stellar covers of songs by Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Mel Tillis and The Everly Brothers, among others. Highlights include a killer version of Roly Salley's "Killing the Blues", and a cover of the Plant-Page collaboration "Please Read the Letter," though in truth, it’s difficult to find a weak spot on the whole album. i--Danny McKenna/i

Raising Sand is a beautiful moving album.I never thought I would hear Robert Plant doing country music. Plant's and Alison Krauss voices are a perfect marriage. I really was'nt sure if I was going to like this because I am a big Led Zeppelin fan but, I'm glad I did I love it. Plants voice is a lot softer then normal and if anything it really proves he has one of the best voices in rock. Alison Krauss voice reminds me alot of Dollys P. the Queen of country. Raising Sand will be a good cd to listen to on the beach this coming summer and chill out to. Befor you buy please make sure you like country music so that you are not disappointed thanks.

The emperor's new clothesAlison Krauss has a voice that seems to be able to go anywhere, do anything--but this is a sorry, indulgent hybrid that doesn't do justice to her or Robert Plant.

Unlikely PartnershipWho would have guessed that two such different artists, with no obvious common style, could have produced such excellent music together?

Robert PlantThis is Robet Plant, what more needs to be said. If you like Robert, you will love this music. It's different, but original. Alison compliments him really well and together they blend perfectly. Buy it and chill
