Amazon.co.uk Review
If you don’t care too much for Adam Sandler’s comedies, then I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry is absolutely not the film to convert you. But if you are one of the many who continually enjoys his films, then his latest is well worth checking out.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry sees Sandler as Chuck and Kevin James as Larry, a pair of firefighters who become domestic partners to help protect the latter’s children. It perhaps goes without saying that this is a reluctant union, and Sandler’s character goes to great lengths to demonstrate the fact that he’s heterosexual. Yet if you can tolerate the cheapness of much of the material, it’s hard not to find yourself chuckling at it.

The film boasts a supporting cast including the likes of Jessica Biel (as a conveniently attractive lawyer), Ving Rhames and Steve Buscemi, and does manage to consistently serve up the laughs. It also finds room to squeeze in Dan Aykroyd and Rob Schneider as well.

And while there’s nothing particularly clever about I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, it very much does what it offers on the proverbial tin. It’s Sandler, in a fish out of water situation, reacting against it. Switch your brain and sensitivities off, and you may well have a ball with it. --Jon Foster

Why Is This In The Gay Section
I do not understand why is this is in the gay section. My mate convinced me to watch this film as he told me it was like Superbad and Knocked Up. Well, it's not. I agree with the guy who said it is equally offensive to straight people as it is to gay people.

It is just not funny. It is like one of those poke fun at gay, female or foreign people sitcoms from the 70's. Mind Your Language or Love Thy Neighbor anyone?

Good fun
Despite the sometimes slapstick and superficial treatment of parts of the storyline, there is a sensible and sensitive line running through the characters and the plot and some of the underlying issues it covers. If you take it at face value and not get too cynical about it then I think it's a highly enjoyable comedy film. And since it is a comedy, why not also enjoy the slapstick elements. There is a very warmhearted messages too, so anyone who wants to see it that way, there is a layer of "humanity" beneath the gags.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes!!!!!
I usually avoid movies that claim to be an "hilarious comedy" but you know what it's like, there's nothing on TV, you're bored and PayPerView may just save you from falling into a coma. Well what a bad choice i made with this movie. If you like dated gay/camp innuendo from the seventies then you'll love this movie. Every 'joke' from dropping soap in the shower to men dancing in fairy costumes is covered. I cringed through this fiasco. I should have just got on with some ironing, it would have been more entertaining!!
