"It's destiny, fate that brings us together. Redundancy. They just don't care that your mother used to eat insurance men and that yours was struggling to bring you up nicely as a little poof." So says Clegg (Peter Sallis) to his companions, Compo (Bill Owen) and Blamire (Michael Bates), three fellows getting on in years reunited by unemployment after knowing each other all their lives in a small Yorkshire town. There's no real story to iLast of the Summer Wine/i, simply the well-observed banter of the central trio and a gallery of eccentric supporting characters. Compo, the irreverent and scruffy "village idiot" and Clegg, the amiable working man are well-loved figures, complemented by the middle-class Conservative Blamire (a nicely rounded portrayal by Bates) and Foggy (Brian Wilde), who joined the series in 1976. This set is a reminder of how good the longest-running comedy in British television history once was, when it was new, fresh, and laugh-out-loud funny. --iGary S. Dalkin/i

My Turn One Day...
I just love Last of the Summer Wine, I just hope that i'm able to enjoy life as depicted by these three rogues of Yorkshire...don't have a bad word to say about the scripts of Roy Clarke...Fambamdosi...

Good Clean Laughs
This show has a very large following, including some of the royal family. br / br /My family just can not wait for me to get the next set of DVD's. br / br /I have whatched them over and over and still find them funny every time. br / br /Thanks Summer wine team.

Reliable and Constant Humour
As always, it's a pleasure to watch these two series of Last of the Summer Wine. br / br /Never disappointing in its humour the lofty (in more ways than one) Foggy, the woman fearing Clegg and the irrepressible Compo rule supreme. Gentle smiles and loud laughter accompany any viewing of this wonderful programme, no matter which episode/series you are watching. br / br /I cannot envisage anyone being disappointed by any of the episodes. br / br /Mad Madam Mimm

Good entertainment
Compo, Clegg and Foggy are three old men in a small town in England. The stories tell about their daily adventures and also some other inhabitants of the place, as well as give a fine view of the countryside. br / br /They bring smiles on my face and always turn up with a surprise ending, often hilarious. My experiences come from the DVD's with Bill Owen, Peter Sallis, Brian Wilde, and they have given me hours of great fun. br / br /Although I have a fluent command of English the subtitles help catch the occational odd local jargon, and if copyright laws allow could be used for educational purposes in schools. br /
