The chance to begin again...
This is a great CD, I love Blade Runner and it's many different versions... but I'm not a super fan and don't know about all the ins outs when it was made etc. All I know is Vangelis' music is sublime and the fact that the original disc is supplemented by 2 extra discs of music is great. br /I bought this CD as I already had the original 1 disc version which I would listen to when studying, this one is even better as you have over 3 hours of studying music. Well worth the purchase... it's lush!

Blade Runner 25th Anniversary review, it's my opinion - we are all different!
I'm not going to talk about what is included, or missing from the film - or mention the order of the tracks. br / br /We are all different, some people might hold the same opinion about these 3 CD's as me - this could help others decide as well. I'm not after brain-washing anyone, or forcing my opinion. We are all different, here's my review and reasons that I didn't get as much from this set as I'd hoped. Your review is personal to you, mine is personal to me - I don't really care to discuss it, or hear your views of my opinions. br / br /OK, let's get one thing straight. I fell in love with this film after seeing the cracking job that was done to convert it to HD-DVD format. I've now dropped that format (as I sold the HD player that plugged into my XB360), and bought it (5 dics version) on Blu-Ray, as I also have a PS3. br / br /What I didn't like is as follows, and yes Vangelis may be a genius... br / br /1. Why the hell does a track like Track 6:One More Kiss, Dear - deserve to end up on this moody Sci-Fi epic? A waste of a track, make no mistake. A track that sounds like it was recorded in the 1920's - 1930's and to make it worse it has words as well. It has as much right to space on this album as 'Like a Virgin', or 'My Heart Will Go On', etc. br / br /Why do I think this? I bought the movie soundtrack because of the mood of the music, the synth effects, sampling etc. Who the hell decided to pick a track that is the one of my least fave genre's!?! It is a massive mickey-take and a huge liberty taken at the listener's expense! A gamble, a huge one at that. A gamble that someone will either hate, put up with, or grow to like probably. A gamble none the less! br / br /Don't get me wrong, I'd have hated Jazz, Country and Western, Hip Hop and many more. But please, I'd have rather suffered one track less - than this insult. Why assume a listener would 'appreciate' this free track... How many people buying this soundtrack, do they think would also love this type of music? 1 in 10, 1 in 100? 1 in 10,000 more like. An insult. Idiots, SKIP! End of. What a massive shame to assume that someone buying an instrumental CD would love this completely different type of music, regardless of sentiment. br / br /Right, CD 2. After loving CD 1 and being a massive fan of the enhancement I feel the samples bring via CD 1 - what a let down CD 2 is, in my opinion. If you are expecting more of the same on CD 2, comparing it with CD 1 - you'll be sadly mistaken. A CD you could put on whilst guest are around at your home, and the CD could finish playing 20 minutes before anyone would notice. Lift music. Sadly. br / br /Most of the songs don't even seem to go anywhere. They are weak, compared to the content on CD 1. br / br /Right, CD 3 - inspired by the film? Yeah right. Nothing to offer me a reason to play it a second time. I'm pleased for all the people who have bought this set and like it. br / br /BUT br / br /This review is for the 1 in 1,000 like me - who, had this information been available in advance, would not have bothered getting the 3 CD version. br / br /Why are so many selling used versions on the popular 2nd-hand websites??? A qstn I don't need answering. br / br /I've already now bought the original soundtrack on single CD. For me, it has everything that I remembered and liked from the film. br / br /Had I known about the disaster that follows on CD 2 3, I would NOT have shelled out on this Anniversary recording. br / br /A waste of my hard-earned cash. I completely love what Vangelis did on CD 1, shame he couldn't have blocked Track 6 from ever appearing in the first place. If you love the 1 CD version of the soundstrack and are expecting more of exactly the same, then I ain't about to lie and tell you that this is what you'll get. br / br /LASTLY, which genius decided to remove the words 'Time to Die' from the last track (Tears in the rain) as well? br / br /Tut, Tut, Tut, people should stick to what they know best... Can't tell you how gutted I am that I don't like these CD's enough to keep this set over the single CD version! br /:(

Got to have it.
Blade Runner changed my life, I was born in 1979 so wasn't able to appreciate the film until it had been out a good 13 years (I actually saw the director's cut first). I bought the original soundtrack in 1999 and it has been an integral part of my life ever since, I have just discovered by accident that this album has been released, I'm so excited I might wee myself... br / br /I apologise that this isn't actually a review but if you take my advice now to please buy this album then it was not a waste of your time to have read it. It is quite simply the most sublime soundtrack to a film ever made. A moment of clarity that only comes along once or twice a century...

Definitive soundtrack!
I always considered Vangelis' work for the "Blade Runner" soundtrack to be one of the most accomplished and definitive pieces he ever did for the universe of film. The music featured here is so evocative, its impact is so profound that it makes my mind travel through the most beautiful visions and landscapes. I would dare using Rutger Hauer's Batty final speech here: "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe! Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate... All those moments will be lost in time... like tears... in rain..." Except that those moments won't be lost in time for me, because they will forever be imprinted in my memories as some of the single most dazzling and wonderful that I have ever experienced when listening to music!

Wonderful!
The film is a stunning visual masterpiece. The Vangelis soundtrack is simply wonderful to listen to. It really does take you there. After watching the film again (Final cut edition). I found myself going back to parts of the film with the music that moved me. The mixture of piano and synths add power and sweetness to this film noir. br /High lights for me was the opening theme as the spinner made it's a way across the city. The Love Theme is simply a beautiful piece of music which builds up nicely. Tear's in the rain, One Alone, and Fading away. br /
