Gackt-Gundam collaboration! ( The "Standard" Version )Dedicated to the legendary Japanese TV anime series
br /"Gundam" and its director Yoshiyuki Tomino, the album
br /consists of six new Gackt-Gundam songs and three original themes
br /(of the first TV series and 1981 films) given
br /fresh typical Gackt make-over which did not let down
br /neither old Gundam fans nor loyal fans of his music.
br /
br /The title "0079-0088" indicates the year the show hit the box and
br /caused a sensation in Japan to 1988 the end of its nine-year space era...
br /( don't worry, you do not need to be a Gundam expert to enjoy this CD)
br /
br /Being a huge Gundam fan, he once revealed he kept
br /all his favourite Gundam lines from the original series in his iPod,
br /1st generation pre-video iPod that is ...,
br /Gackt devoted four months EACH to all the songs in the album and
br /couldn't resist the temptation of releasing two additional
br /limited versions featuring Amuro Ray and Char Aznable respectively.
br /Thus the three versions under one title confusion.
br /
br /If you find the idea of those two Gundam warriors speaking words of wisdom
br /at the beginning or in the middle of each songs rather irritating or totally irrelevant
br /go for this standard version.
br /If it is Charismatic Char Aznable that you are after, look out for the reddish CD package.
br /
br /
br /1. Ai Senshi ( Sorrow, Warriors )
br /
br /Original Gundam TV series theme song ( by Daisuke Inoue et al )
br /given a fresh typical Gackt Metal/J-Rock make-over.
br /This song is the reason why I bought the CD as it is not available @ iTunes shop.
br /
br /
br /2. Metamorphoze
br /
br /The theme song of 2005 Gundam film by Gackt.
br /If you love Redemption or Returner this will definitely be your favourite.
br /
br /
br /3. Kimi ga matte iru kara( Because you are waiting )
br /
br /An excellent example of Gackt's typical dramatic/emotional catchy
br /upbeat song which he does so well always. A sure hit.
br /
br /
br /4. Mind Forest
br /
br /Another lovely mixture of moderately metallic Japanesque rock and
br /lovely clear vocals.
br /
br /
br /5. Suna no Jujika( A Cross in the Sand )
br /
br /Instrumental. The 1981 Mobile Suit Gundam film theme by Shinji Tanimura.
br /
br /
br /6.Dybbuk
br /
br /To be brutally honest this mixture of rap, dreamy female chorus and
br /heavy metal sounds rather experimental and a little too complicated for my liking.
br /Very addictive though.
br /
br /
br /7.Dears
br /
br /Yet another wonderful example of upbeat catchy between J-rock J-pop Gackt hit.
br /Empowering lyrics and nice guitar detail.
br /
br /
br /8.Love Letter
br /
br /A good Gackt ballad that shows off his beautiful voice.
br /
br /
br /9.Meguriai ( Encounters )
br /
br /Original theme song of 1981 film ( by Daisuke Inoue et al ) completely
br /and successfully transformed by Gackt.

br /
br /This is the nice young debutant Amuro version and each songs include
br /one or two Japanese lines spoken by original actor Toru Furuya with
br /an only exception being the third song which also features
br /charismatic Char (Shuichi Ikeda).
br /
br /Hope you won't get lost in my dodgy translation of Amuro's words.
br /Those lines show the essence of each songs and I thought it might be
