Nearly all the footage is taken from planet earth and apparently these are them makers of deep blue. You cannot really call them makers if your just taking already aired scenes. Patrick Stewart just repeats most of the stuff Attenborough said except with some global warming garble thrown in. No Effort whatsoever from this film
Made from a compilation of BBC footage this is a magnificent 90 minutes with a measured narration by Patrick Stewart. It will never win any awards but it kept me gripped.
This is an excellent companion to the BBC's Blu-ray version of Planet Earth. The presentation is different - and in some respects better. The quality of the camera work is equal to that of Planet Earth. Make sure that your HDTV has 24p Film setting switched on, so that the time-lapse shots of seasonal change etc are smooth. A very worthy addition to a Blu-ray documentary collection.
I just got my PS3 and needed a good movie to really see the greatness of Blu-Ray, this one was it!
Firstly i have never watched the TV series planet earth. I have only watched this movie. I have to say in years of watching nature programs on SKY, I have never seen something quite like this. Its not like attenborough's nature programs, which as a child were wonderful, but as an adult arent really that interesting. This on the other hand brings back that curiosity to nature I once had as a child. The aerial shots and the views from space are just breathtaking. Following animals from what seems miles above the earth, and seeing lands turn from dust to rainforests all in high definitions is just jaw dropping. Seeing thousands of birds from a mile above them or watching the water flow from mountains from space! brings a smile to your face. The music also gives that big climax feel and with the starship enterprise captain Patrick Stewart as the narrator I can assure you its nothing short of amazing!

br /The story follows regions as whole, instead of just following one animal your following a few in each region, such as Africa, where you follow lions, elephants as well as the changes in climate (from snow, dust, rain etc).

br /It is not only a showcase for your blu-ray player but informative too.
br /Highly recommend.
