Editorial reviews
Amazon.co.uk ReviewGet yourself a snappy title and a couple of marquee names (however disreputable) and you might just snag your no-budget movie a national release--as iZombie Strippers/i colorfully proves. The names in question belong to porn star Jenna Jameson and Freddie Krueger himself, Robert Englund, both of whom look quite comfortable in this sleazy milieu. As the title suggests (well, "suggests" might be a mild word), there has been an outbreak of the undead in a strip club, with strippers actually improving their onstage antics after they've become zombies. (Given the number of implants on display, it's a wonder the zombies didn't keel over from silicone poisoning.) Englund is the proprietor of the place, Jameson is a star dancer, and a couple of actresses in the "nice girl" roles don't have to take their tops off, although almost everybody else does. Writer-director Jay Lee fills the movie with political gags and a bunch of philosophy references (Jameson reads Nietzsche, the locale is Sartre, Nebraska), all of which play like a lame attempt to distinguish his movie as something other than a puerile horror-comedy. Only thing is, when you try to disguise the fact that you've made a puerile horror-comedy, it kind of takes the oomph out of both the horror and the comedy. The political jibes are about as feeble as those in Southland Tales, but at least iZombie Strippers/i is shorter. Shot on video, it looks atrocious, but perhaps that doesn't matter very much. --iRobert Horton, Amazon.com/i

Cor and goreRobert Englund camps it up, the zombies rip it up and you young men will get it up watching this surprisingly effective horror romp.
br /Jenna Jameson and Roxy Saint are two of the strippers who become undead and munch their way through a club where, quite bizarely the zombie strippers are huge hits.
br /There's lashing of gore, several laughs and a lot of bare flesh on view. The story is silly and some of the srtips a little too long (for the voyeurs who aren't just here for the blood I guess), but what do you expect?
br /The killings and entrails are surprisingly well done, producing several "urgh", "cool" or "what the hell" moments.
br /Definately worth a watch.

Fails on both countsHow could this go wrong?
br /
br /Bear with me here.
br /
br /Imagine you bought a product called, for the sake of argument, "I Can NOT Believe This ISN'T Butter!". You'd think you'd know what you were getting, right? Nothing pretentious, just something to spread on your toast.
br /
br /Now imagine you get the tub home, and open it up to make a sandwich or whatever. Here's the point: rather than a butter effect spread, inside are all the chemical ingredients of butter that SOMEHOW HAVE FAILED TO COMBINE like some freakish lipid primordium. Swirling, horrible, globular soup that is grey or something, I dunno, and is all the stuff that goes into butter but IT HASN'T MADE BUTTER. Imagining that?
br /
br /That is like ZOMBIE STRIPPERS. As others have said, this does have zombies, and it does have strippers. But the concept is squandered. If you haven't seen it, the film you are imagining in your head is much, much better than what these people came up with. Practically ANYONE could make a better Zombie Strippers film than this.
br /
br /I know you're going to watch it anyway. Most of what there is to say about it has already been said by others right here. I'm only posting this review in the hope of driving the overall star rating down. You WILL feel cheated. The poster is a thousand times better than the film.
br /
br /After sitting through it aghast - because surely it must get better near the end? - and it doesn't, I honestly suspected the writer/director might be Robert Englund's idiot nephew whom he wanted to indulge, or was given the backing to make this film through some kind of wish fulfilment charity. Instead I learned it was meant to be an analogue of Eugene Ionesco's absurdist play RHINOCEROS.
br /
br /I like naked women. I like zombie films. I like the absurdist plays of Eugene Ionesco - though I much prefer his AMEDEE and THE LESSON to RHINOCEROS. ZOMBIE STRIPPERS is no bloody good at all.

Half-bakedI've got mixed feelings about this film. It's basically a horror-comedy, which is a genre I like very much. However, it just doesn't flow right. There are parts that are very good and parts that are just so boring you're about to fall asleep. And for a horror-comedy that does not bode well.

br /Someone compared this to Peter Jackson's Braindead. Sorry, but there's no comparison. Braindead's a masterpiece from start to finish, so it's a tall order if you want to compare your film to it.
br /
br /They could've cut this by 15 minutes and re-edited it to improve the flow of the movie and perhaps it would've been a much better flick.
br /
br /The strip-scenes... Some are good very sexy... Others are a waste of my precious time and slow down the pace of the film.
br /
br /Some of the dialogue is definitely cringe-worthy, but I suppose since the premise of the entire movie is to be "campy" that makes it OK.
br /
br /The gore scenes and the zombies are nicely done. And surprisingly, I have to give some credit to Jenna Jameson, whose acting was actually not that bad at all.
br /
br /Overall, it's a 2-star effort. Nice idea, visually OK, but needs a lot of work in the editing process. Don't reckon this will find its way into my DVD player very often.

Will someone put her out of the misery. That has to be the best sentence in the movie because it sums it up rather well. Someone had an idea, what do guys like? Zombies and tits, put them into a movie together and we don't need anything else.
br /
br /Well you do.
br /
br /This is a 'B' movie and a poor one at that. Simon Pegg has already set the bar high for Zombies and humour and this one isn't coming anywhere close and keeps throwing the same things at you again and again so it soon becomes a rerun. Of course it is not to be taken seriously anyway but that is no excuse for being bad. In the way that Planet Terror may have been misunderstood (rather than the director thinking he could get away with anything) this movie cannot be misunderstood, its bad and it doesn't try anything else.
br /
br /It has a minor entertainment value but the newsreal at the start is actually its high point. Then there are a few make you smile jokes on the way and a few sexy women to be seen without clothes on the way but in a very stripper sense. Overall it has very few merits and it is no must see.

Better than expectedI loved this film. I expected another rubbish low budget load of tripe in my search for a decent modern zombie fix (yes I got so desperate that I thought what the heck despite the title). I have to say that this along with 2001 maniacs is the leader in modern B movies. It re-ignited my love of the genre (B movie not horror) and I am hoping to watch more while I wait for a decent modern horror to come along. Could hollywood please research the old classics like dawn of the dead and at least try to make something half as decent. Anyway expect ham acting, daft storyline, gory effects (the effects are pretty excellent on this, something that is making modern b movies great) and some laugh out loud moments. Sit back and enjoy it for what it is.
