more top draw drama
High Court Judge, John Deed, continues to take on the establishment using his sharp interlect and passionate beleif in justice. Uneasy relationships are strained to the limit when he forced to face the consequencesue of his stormy personal life.

In truth you will enjoy this much more if you are familiar with 'series 1 and 2', as many characters resurface from earlier episodes. Many new cases create serious moral waves in and out of court as Judge Deed finds it harder and harder to do the right thing.

This top quality series continues to be very enjoyable and addictive, so if you liked 'series 1 and 2', this is an absolute must for you.

good acting spoilt by silly plots.
a series that has great potential to be better than it is.
the courtroom scenes are mildly interesting but the subplots such as the conspiracies surrounding the cases is often plain daft and unconvincing. it just doesn't happen like that in real life.

Still entertaining
In the very last episode, Judge Deed says what most of us believe, when delivering his verdict on a case where someone dies in a reality show : 'Celebrity' , the pursuit of the talentless by the mindless. It diminishes all who seek it and all who worship it. He also delivers a shaming speech to some journalists who don't report news but pander to everything that is bad in our society. Great stuff.

That's what I like about this whole series. Judge Deed represents decency and integrity. Legally this show may not be accurate but the cases are interesting and tackle issues that are in the news.

This series has a dramatic and exciting ending. It may stretch creditability but that is the difficulty with fictional characters as in Morse or Silent Witness. How many police inspectors get framed for murder or pathologists try to solve the whole crime.

This series brings to an end (possibly) the running battle between Deed and the Home secretary, Neil Houghton
, now played by another actor - in the previous series he was a tanned smooth looking sneak - in this he is a pasty faced looking sneak with a dull haircut.

Newman is a master of the English language and has a rare ability to keep John Deed fresh, spunky, smart and funny. Just as good as series one and two.
