Not 'ultra-quiet' at all...!
OK, so I bought this item for my mac particularly because it describes 'ultra-quiet' fans, and macbooks are generally very quiet (pretty much silent in fact), so any noise is very noticeable.

And this notebook cooler is not 'ultra-quiet' at all. In fact the noise is pretty annoying.

What is the point of buying a product to stop your laptop's fans working overtime and making a racket if the cooler itself makes more noise?

Hmm. Not impressed.

Also, the contoured surface looks good, but doesn't hold your laptop very securely - I'm in fact a bit nervous leaving it on top in case it slips off onto the floor!

Faulty
I've returned to of these for the same problem. The fans make a rattling noise.

Well worth the ££
Purchased one of these for my hubby to use at work and a week later bought another for him to use at home (no air conditioning at either) as his laptop seemed to be very warm and suffered the occasional BSOD (blue screen failure). Very effective! - been using for a few weeks and have not seen another BSOD. Well worth the investment.

An extremely effective product!
At last, a laptop cooler that actually fits the width of a 15.4" WXGA laptop. At first I thought that the curvy design might not give a stable surface but my Dell M70 sits firmly and snugly on top and the non-slip feet on the cooler means that it doesn't move around the desk surface. The angled top raises the back of the laptop and I have found this to be surprisingly helpful as the screen is just that little bit higher. The fans are a quiet purr and certainly much less irritating than the laptop fans whining on full blast. The cooling is remarkably effective and has reduced the surface temperature of the bottom of the laptop by over 20 degrees which means that the laptop runs much quieter and is giving no further problems. The cooler is light enough to transport although the wedge design increases the bulk slightly. This is not a cooler for using on your lap without using some sort of tray but this is just too minor a niggle for what is a stylish and very effective product.
