High Hopes Dashed
I really wanted to enjoy this film, as a combination of the racy trailer and the largely complimentary reviews were strong enough to make me hope for a Brit Easy Rider. Sadly not the case! It feels like a budget blend of Easy Rider, Mad Max, and the eponymous Withnail and Co mentioned in another review. That said, the three main characters are well cast and believeable - I know plenty of people just like them - and their bikes make a change from the inevitable bling chops that are often cast in these roles. The gangs however, are excruciating, and the plot is thin, slow and less than believeable. Overall, ok for light hearted biker-oriented entertainment, but don't hope for a Blues Brother moment.

Awful !
I bought this dvd on the strength of the other recommendations on Amazon..did I miss something? A non stop flow of foul language,drug obsessed bikers and little else, I consider my money totally wasted on this garbage.I am a biker,but I completely missed the point of this "entertainment", nothing at all that I would care to be involved in.

Beautiful scenery, underated film
My partner and I weren't really sure what to expect - this film was hardly talked about. It didn't dissapoint though. Maybe you have to have 'experienced' some of the situations they'd been in - buying sweets in the corner shop in a small Welsh village springs to mind - to really get the comedy. We enjoyed it so much, we're going to have to buy it now.

Absolutely brilliant!!!
The big cinema companies don't go for this type of movie, preferring the blockbuster productions with mega effects & a star packed cast. More fool them because this has the makings of a film that will grow & grow in popularity.

It's another (in a long line of) Britflick which successfully blends good acting (Phil Daniels looks as if he were born to the role!), great script which moves along nicely, a sound plot, fab soundtrack & scenery which we all too often forget about (must get to Hay On Wye more often!).

Make no mistake, this is a "must see" & it tips a nod to other movies such as Zulu, Easy Rider & even Braveheart - I suppose you'll have to watch it to see what I mean.

I don't want to spoil the film for future viewers, but the fact that the 3 central characters play bikers stoned out of their minds for most of the film certainly strikes a chord with me!

Enjoy & celebrate the fact that we still make excellent, quirky films like this.

Best Brit film for ages
Freebird
This is the best biker film of all time. I could be a little bit biased as my husband is in it but that does not alter my opinion of this film. I was lucky enough to be invited down to London for the premier screening and after show party. My first time watching Freebird. The whole audience roared with laughter from start to finish. The party afterwards put the finishing touch to a perfect evening, chatting and drinking with Phil, Geoff, Peter, Martin and Jon (the director). Since then I have seen the film twice more at the cinema and now have the DVD.
This is destined to become a cult classic with such immortal lines such as "what a lovely day for a bike ride"
