Information on the SACD release
This is a special, limited de-luxe edition. It is a STEREO, HYBRID SACD - in other words, it is not a multi-channel release but it CAN be played on a regular CD player and does NOT require special SACD hardware. The album has been re-mastered by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in the USA and these pressings are packaged in Japanese, mini-vinyl replicas of the original sleeves, including replicas of any inner sleeves, plus an additional booklet with lyrics.

pure happiness
Although I understand why the fans of the ealier work of DCD did not really like this album, it is my favourite one.brWe hear all kind of world influences from Latino America to Africa and BP LG take us to another level with their brillant voices, singing together several times throughout the album unlike the previous ones where they were singing separately.brAnd the quality of the sound is fantastic. Dont hesitate one second and get yourself a copy.

a must have for any fan
This album is phenomenal. Although very diferent from the stuff that they usually come out with, Spiritchaser is a definite must have for any Dead Can Dance fan. With a tribal feel and African/Arabic overtones they create a sense of time and space that is carried through the entire album tirelessy, leaving the listener ready to press 'repeat'

One of their best
Don't listen to the criticism of this as a weak album, I've got all their albums and this is one of the best. The smooth blending of North African, Native American and an overall gothic splendour is incredible. The Song of the Stars and the Song of the Disposessed are just beautiful, an essential DCD album (and they finished on a high note)

Dead and Buried
One of the finest, most atmospheric and moving bands ever produced their weakest and final ablum in Spiritchaser. This retains superb production values, fine instrumentation and haunting vocals, but somehow manages to blend into a sameness-feel all the way through. Only the epic 'Indus' (borrowing heavily from the Beatles 'Within, Without You' - and acknowledged by DCD) stands out. Lisa Gerrard's vocals are lovely and haunting and Brendan Perry adds a fine contrast with his own. It's an album worth having, but you really should buy any of the duo's other releases for a true taste of what they were about.'Spititchaser' just vindicates their decision to split. But what a fantasic legacy. Do yourself a favour and check their other stuff out.Buy this one last of all.
