Just get it, with AppleseedWatched Appleseed and Ex Machina several times now, they get better every time - mouth wide open and ears bleeding (if you can afford to let the volume rip), terrific sonic effects
br /An incredible world, we need another installment..............

A cracking anime action movieTo my mind, the original movie adaption of Shirow Masamune's "Appleseed" manga series was pretty disappointing and needed remaking. And now it has.
br /
br /Director - Shinji Aramaki
br /Producer - John Woo
br /
br /In case you didn't know, Shinji Aramaki designed a number of the original Transformer and Robotech toys back in the day, and pretty much pioneered the now-iconic Japanese powered suit/exoskeleton look. Therefore, if you think any of the gear in this movie looks derivative, seriously think again.
br /
br /I would say John Woo needs no introduction.
br /
br /So.... With that kind of creative muscle behind the wheel of this project, the result could only have gone one of two ways, and luckily it went the right way. This movie works really well as what it is designed to be, and that is top-grade anime action.
br /
br /Content summary:
br /* Engaging characters and storyline, although not as deep as (say) a Miyazaki production
br /* looks gorgeous
br /* soundtrack very well conceived
br /* impressive audio options
br /* actually quite interesting extras
br /
br /Bottom line:
br /This blu-ray edition movie sets production standards that other sci-fi anime should surely follow.

a great movieother reviewers have gone into great detail about the story so i wont make an issue of it but i will say that i enjoyed the first appleseed and when this movie came out i borrowed it from a friend to watch on my new blu ray player and this is so good it justified me spending £200 on a dvd upgrade,it was so good in fact i had to buy a copy for myself.

br /anyone who wants to see the very best in hi def visuals and a very entertaining story buy this disc and you wont be disappointed

Great sci-fi fantasyI enjoyed the 80's version of Appleseed when I was a teenager and when I learned of the Appleseed reboot I immediately went out and got myself a copy of the DVD. It was pretty damn good and figured that it was a one-off. But now we have this sequel which proves that there is actually loads of potential and imagination in the Appleseed universe and certainly enough to warrant further sequels.

br /Denaun Knute and her mostly robotic, rabbit-eared boyfriend Briareos are still working for ESWAT in the Utopian future city of Olympus when a new personal device, a sort cross between a cell phone and a holographic visor, goes haywire and turns the population into a bunch of techno-zombies. Briareos suffers seizures of his own too and a duplicate of his old human form has been recruited to work with them and save the city from this mysterious evil.
br /
br /Yes, it's nonsense. But entertaining nonsense and a weird cross between Robocop [Blu-ray] [1987], Star Trek First Contact - Dvd [1996] and The Matrix/Matrix Reloaded/Matrix Revolutions [Blu-ray] [1999]. But the animation is gorgeous and the story and action absurd enough to keep your attention.
br /
br /Come on, John Woo, give us another 'un.
br /
br /The Blu Ray features a very nice 1.85:1 1080p transfer with Dolby Digital Plus sound and a decent amount of extras. I recommend.
