Awsome music !!!I thought the light had gone out when Waylon died, then I heard a JM track (Cheney's Toy) on Bob Harris Country on BBC Radio 2. The light was back on, and what a light !!!!. I did what a lot of other reviewers have done, I bought this album, then tracked down and bought all of them. I was hooked. This is the best music I have heard in many a year, I cant get enough. My wife (who does not have any interest in music) does not complain when I play JM's CD's - silent praise !!!!. I look forward to future releases and, who knows, I may even go to the next gig when he comes over here.

This guy just gets better and better.Whether its musicality or lyrics James McMurtry just gets a classier act with everything he does. This album is the culmination of all previous works, each one a gem in its own right, for creativity, topicality, relevance, precision, talent James McMurtry has no equal.
Give your ears and mojo a treat, listen to this guy.

Up there with his bestA welcome new album from James McMurtry and well worth the wait. I would consider it probably his best studio album. Such an under rated performer one can only hope that this release will bring him the credit that he deserves for serving up some of the best americana out there. (Check out the live album!)

GREAT AS ALWAYSWell a new album from James McMurtry and a beauty, the Texas troubador comes up with a classic with some great electric and acousic cuts.
Some tracks seem to be of concern to his fellow americans due to their political content (obviously less of a concern to us Brits) as they are anti government however they do not detract from the musical quality of the album.
As ever I do hope that this release will bring him the credit that he deserves for serving up some of the best americana I have ever heard.
Not a bad place to start if you don't have any McMurtry CD's, but if you are a fan how did you manage to wait for the UK release?

BrilliantA great piece of Americana, with strong lyrics and fine tunes. Clearly there is a political axe to grind here, and it stands in the tradition of Springsteen, Dylan, Guthrie at al. But it's also fun and a great listen. Strongly recommended.
