My son loves spider-man - the 80s series is very suitable for the under fives.

Fantastic!!!!!
Bought this for my 3 year old son - and myself if I'm honest!! Neither of us were disappointed!! The Spiderman movies are bit too old for him right now but he loves the Spiderman merchandise so this was a good compromise! HIs 6 year old sister loves Fire Star and they are constantly playing rescue games being one or more of the characters!! Best DVD buy for Christmas!

I used to look forward to this, every week
I don't write many reviews, but really felt motivated with 'Spider-man and his amazing friends', because it brings back some really fond memories. I used to love this cartoon and couldn't wait for it to be on. I seem to remember that the early 1980's, the BBC childrens schedules had a Spiderman cartoon at about 4:30 on mondays, alternating between runs of the amazing friends and the solo Spiderman series. Much as I loved the amazing friends, I did prefer the solo Spidey adventures, which seemed to have a more serious (?!) edge. I know another reviewer here has mentioned the solo series, so I hope it gets a release. br / br /This DVD release is absolutely great, not just as a piece of nostalgia, but I'm sure as pure entertainment to anyone who's never seen it before. The animation is very good, with richly painted backdrops and well-realised characters. It reminds me of the type of animation seen in a lot of Hannah-barbara cartoons of the 70's and 80's. I actually think it's better than a lot of the more modern animation we see nowadays, where everyone seems like a disproportionate caricature. The theme tune and incidental music are brilliant! Quite rousing and heroic, but with that electro-Spidey feel to it! br / br /There's plenty to amuse all: Cackling villains, trap doors and secret rooms every where, plus Aunt May's comedy pet dog. Also, a whole load of appearances from other marvel characters. I think my favourite episode is possibly 'Swarm', featuring an evil alien bee being! br / br /This is a great DVD release and I look forward to series two. I hope the Spidey solo series gets a release too.
